Minutes for BC Meeting 4/23/15

In Attendance:

1. International Students Association  Holi event, same from last year  Actually have a club budget allocation for this  Wanted to use paint from last year, but went bad, so need to buy new ones  Also need facilities and buckets  These would classify as materials?  Motion to fund – 5,0,1  Event on may 3rd

2. Table Tennis Club  Were here first semester (fall sem) and funding was tabled until got a storage space  Can store in basement of keefe, so want to get a ping pong table and rest of material now  Hao – in the past, there were table tennis tables in keefe for the club, so where are they now?  Have one left from the club, so only would need to buy 2  If this is going to be in keefe will it be aas or student activities?  Will only be used by the club  If leaving out the other table for keefe, then would want to buy 3  Enough time to use if these are being purchased now? o Would be used next sem o Karen – should this be funded next semester instead?  Ideally would want to start club immediately in the fall and want to purchase as soon as they got the funding  Karen – would be able to get funding at beginning of next sem and be a fully functional club by early next sem  Can table this and purchase next sem  Motion to table for next sem – 6,0,0 3. Electronics Club  Want to get oculus rift kit  A virtual reality headset that’s programmable  Isn’t available for consumer yet but want to get a developer version  Would be interesting to combine this with other components to program a nebula  Motion to fund – 6,0,0

4. Project Salud  Want to hold a chipotle fundraiser/benefit dinner  Have done this in the past  For voluntary contribution of $5, can get chipotle burrito  Wrapper will have facts on peru and the project on them  Will also have slide show up about the club while giving it out  This would be for 50 burritos ($10 per burrito and charge $5)  Requesting less burritos this time  Will probably be in Merrill this year  Will be on next Friday  Motion to fund – 6,0,0

5. Women’s Rugby  Have 2 away games, so need transportation fees  First time having away games this season  Have several games in Maine, and would be hard to provide own transportation and do other things for this semester  Difficult to procure aas vans, and if cant get, would limit options  Cost about 180 per away game if don’t have aas game  Karen – don’t fund transportation for these types. Might be a topic of discussion though even though this is a precedent.  Paul – was funded last semester, but not this semester  Joe – men’s team also said the same  Would usually fund for regular/weekly travels to games/practices/etc  Has been funded in the past, but not this semester  Could review over during club budgets and see for next year  Motion to zero – 6,0,0  Problems w liability when funding transportation  May also be problems with exclusivity

6. Brigham Snow  Twixter for final cut pro  Was told to go talk to IT, still in the process of discussing, but hope for approved funding right now  Will continue talks and see if really needs to be spent  Will – how have the talks gone so far? o Haven’t really gotten far so far  Paul – could try asking athletics to get involved  Would be available to all students in IT lab  Manny – when would you start using this? o Would hope to use right away  Could buy this one copy and see what IT does with it later  Would go onto IT computer  Would be an intermediate step?  Fawzi – independent project? o Sort of but would be for the school – a documentary on the lacrosse team  Paul – if we start funding software, then it might become greater  Motion to fund – 3, 4, 0 – reject

7. Friends of Book and Plow  Want to do a few activities for farm fest  Pet rock – pick rock from their fields and make pet  Make an edible flower to bring back  Egg races and trivia  Want to get funding for materials and supplies for these  Will be on may 2nd  Motion to fund – 7,0,0

8. Gospel Choir  Want to emergency fund for artist coming out of texas o Got initial funding but ticket prices have gone up, so want to get another 500  Requested honorarium for 2 artists, have gone to seek cosponsorship from departments, but still need a little more money for these o Most departments have gotten back  Initially requested for 1 artist, and want to reallocate to 2 artists instead  Will be on may 2nd  Motion to emergency fund the flights and regular fund the rest – 7,0,0
