DEID Projects Meeting Minute

I. Project Updates and Agenda

 Overview of last year’s project o Built a greywater treatment system . Filters water and allows the clean water to flow back . Built grease traps to filter grease out . Gathered data for this year’s project  Overview of this year’s project o Damming of water source and install pipeline that runs from the water source along a river . Must take into account change in atmospheric pressure due to drop in elevation in order to prevent pipes from breaking . Must be able to cross river and be at a high enough elevation to account for potential change in water level of the river o Distribute water to houses o Build water storage tank  Nombre de Dios o National Park that holds the water source that we will be using for the water distribution system  Four main organizations we will be working with: o Government agency o Un Mundo . We will be working close with Denis is the director o La Junta de Agua . The organization we will be delivering the final project to [Type text] [Type text] [Type text]

o Two Rotary Clubs (Tegucigalpa and Palo Alto) . We will be receiving most of our funding from them . We will be working close with Tim Watson

II. Financial Matters and Fundraising

 We will be working on a variety of grant applications in the near future in order to maximize funding for our project

III. Next Steps

 Awaited information o Sarah and Hunter will be finalizing the project design  Upcoming deadline o Rotary clubs need basic design of project and tank in order for our project to receive funding . Goal is to have around a 15,000 gallon tank in order to provide sufficient water for a growing population

 To-dos:

o Fill out doodle poll in order to find best meeting times for the future o Read over Post Implementation Report (specifically section 4.2, which is an overview of our future plans for this upcoming year) o Tuesday, October 18th at 6:00pm there will be a freshmen dinner at Marketplace in order to learn more about all of the different DEID projects for this upcoming year
