Thank you for showing interest in joining our nationally competitive cheering program. Last season has provided us with a GREAT foundation, building on that, this season we will be focusing on improving our skills and results plus having fun too! If you have a passion for cheering, don’t shy away from hard work, can commit to this sport and a team, we want you!
Below is information regarding the Cheer Team rules, responsibilities, and tryout procedures. Please review this information thoroughly.
To become a member of the team, you MUST be accepted to the University prior to the tryout date of August 8th,2009.
Tryouts will be held on August 8th, 2009 from 10:00am-3:00pm at SNHU auxiliary gym, 2500 N. River Road, Manchester, NH, 03106.
Tryout appearance should be “performance ready”. Please remove all piercings and cover up all tattoos. Hair up or half-up, with bow, straight or curled. Wear a black or other dark colored sports bra and black spandex or shorts.
Tryout Material and Score Sheet
- One Sideline Chant 5pts - Jump Section: Toe, Pike, Hurdler *Required 5pts - Standing Tumbling:*Required 10pts - Running Pass 1: *Required 10pts - Stunt 20pts - Dance: (4-eight count minimum) 10pts - Interview/Appearance: 10pts 70pts
* Flexibility and double downs are required for all flyers. * Tumbling can consist of cartwheels and forward rolls. Just show us what you have!

1. Cheer Team members are representatives of Southern NH University in and out of uniform and will be expected to uphold the highest standards of moral conduct. 2. Academics and Cheer Team activities are top priorities. 3. A positive attitude must be maintained toward all team members, coaches, and SNHU representatives including faculty and staff. 4. Cheer Team members will be required to sign an agreement outlining the policies and procedures and the code of conduct for the Cheer Team. Failure to abide by the terms may result in termination from team. 5. Any Cheer Team member under the influence of drugs or alcohol during a practice, game, event, or function will be terminated from the team. 6. Cheer Team members are required to attend and participate in all practices and conditioning sessions, school games, and SNHU events. All team members must be on time and dressed appropriately. 7. Cheer Team members are expected to be in and maintain a healthy and physically fit condition. Thus, all members may be asked to participate in occasional conditioning and weight training, as well as running. 8. Sportsmanlike conduct must be maintained at all times. Verbal abuse and cursing, at any event, will not be tolerated. 9. Cheer Team members will actively participate in fundraising projects, benefit performances, and volunteer work for the community or school as asked. 10. Cheer Team members are responsible for their own housing and living expenses during the entire year. Due to the year round Cheer Team schedule, Cheer Team members may not be able to take all breaks (i.e. Thanksgiving weekend, Christmas break, Spring Break, etc.). There is an additional cost for SNHU Housing during the winter break. (Check with Terry). Please take this into consideration as you are making the decision to become a part of the Cheer Team. 11. With all of the duties and responsibilities of being a Cheer Team member, there is very little time for a job. Some team members have found jobs that allow them flexible schedules, but they are hard to find. Nevertheless, these waivers are subject to termination at any time if Cheer Team duties are not fulfilled. 12. Cheer Team members must commit themselves to SNHU and the Cheer Program in order for us to be successful.
