Coastal Georgia Breaking the Cycle Symposium – March 21st, 2015 At Savannah State University in Savannah, GA

The Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) is committed to helping people live lives of recovery and independence. Since recovery happens where people live, in communities, and natural support systems are an important component of recovery, DBHDD is promoting and supporting the development of communities across Georgia that understand, welcome, encourage, engage and nurture people in recovery from mental health and substance use challenges. In SFY 2015 DBHDD’s Office of Recovery Transformation is partnering with the Georgia Mental Health Consumer Network, Georgia Council on Substance Abuse, Georgia Parent Support Network and members of nine communities to convene community conversations about recovery; plan for and host a local recovery symposium; and foster local collaborative relationships for continued development of recovery-oriented communities.

Through the “Coastal Georgia Breaking the Cycle Symposium” we are inviting the citizens of southeast Georgia and their families to join in our efforts to increase prevention, education and awareness about the stigma facing all people impacted by mental health challenges and substance use disorders, especially youth and young adults. Our mission is to build a flourishing Recovery Community where all people can find access to the support, care, and resources that they need to achieve and sustain long term recovery from Substance Use and Mental Health challenges. Our symposium will be held March 21st, 2015 at Savannah State University in the Student Union. We believe that “Together We Can Make a Difference”! Please join us in making a difference!
