The BMC requires full details for any proposed Arctic and Antarctic travel before our underwriters will provide a quotation. 1. Is this trip independent or arranged through a tour / guiding company? Please give full details

2. Will you be part of an ‘adventure challenge’, a race or a ‘record-breaking’ event of any kind? Please explain

3. Is the activity in any way connected with your occupation / profession? Please explain

4. Has the trip any kind of research / survey / ecological purpose? Please give full details

5. Will you be involved in any work as ‘support staff’, as a marshal, or part of a medical team?

6. Are you receiving any form of remuneration / payment for participating in this trip?

7. Is the trip connected with any form of sponsorship? Please give full details

8. Is the trip the subject of any type of film or TV production / media involvement? 9. Will a professional film crew accompany you on this trip?

10. Are there any special or unusual features or activities involved with this trip? Please specify details – eg will you be using Power Kites, Sailing Boats or any form of motorised transport like Skidoos, Quad- bikes or motorised rigid-inflatable boats (eg. Zodiacs etc) ?

11. What is the full itinerary from the departure date from the UK/Ireland until return date to the UK/Ireland? Please supply a separate map with your route marked out (you may supply tour operators website link if applicable). Please include FULL details including exact locations you are travelling to in the Polar/Remote area and connecting flights to the Polar/Remote area.

12. What precise outdoor sports activities will you be engaged in? Please give full details

13. What back-up arrangements does the tour operator have in place if anything goes wrong? Eg. If the Guides fall ill or have an injury / accident – what will be done? Or if a natural disaster interrupts the planned itinerary, or if the group is stranded – how will the tour company fulfil its obligations to their clients ?

14. How will contact be maintained between you and the outside world during the trip?

15. Will you be taking any of the following: GPS, Satellite Tracking / Monitoring Beacon, Personal Locator Beacon, Satellite Telephone, Spares and spare batteries / chargers etc. ? Please specify.

16. What are your own contingency plans in the event of an emergency? Eg. If you fall ill, suffer injury / accident, Altitude Sickness etc. or become lost or stranded?

17. What previous or similar relevant experience have you had which equips you for this trip?

18. Do you have ANY existing medical conditions or are you undergoing any treatment or taking medication? 19. Are you travelling against medical advice?

20. Has your tour operator any history of previous Arctic/Antarctic or Remote Area trips? Please give details.

21. Have you or the tour operator had any previous Search and Rescue or Medical Emergency or Repatriation incidents? Please give full details.

22. How long has the tour group been operating this type of trip?

23. How many participants are there in this expedition?

24. How many professional experienced guides or leaders are there in the expedition?

25. Is any member of the party trained / qualified in Emergency First Aid treatment? How many?

26. Have you obtained the appropriate authority or permit for this expedition and checked with the F&CO regarding contacts with the relevant British Embassy / High Commission abroad ? And have you a note of their tel.no. in the event of an emergency such as - a victim of crime, loss of passport, detention, arrest, or hospitalisation ?

27. Have you received any request for special Search and Rescue insurance requirements? Please note: It is your responsibility to provide complete and accurate information. It is important that you ensure that all statements you make are full and accurate. If you fail to disclose material information this could invalidate the travel insurance policy. We must have your written advices regarding the above to submit to our underwriters for a quotation.
