Directions for a Successful Opening of School, please read CAREFULLY.

 Student packets can be picked up on Monday, August 23, 2010 in Student Services after 7:40 a.m. They will include:  Teacher Schedule  Student Schedules with  Emergency Contact Card Blank (to go home)  Emergency Contact Card Preprinted (To be modified by student and then collected by teacher.)  Insurance Applications  Lunch Application (no lunch cards, ID #’s will be used)  PAMS Flyer (Lunch Money Payment)  Letter of Acceptance for Free Lunch (for selected students)  Parent Contract  SES Tutoring Flyer  SES Application Form  Agenda 2

 During Knights’ Time (Homeroom) all teachers will distribute  Emergency Card (Preprinted / Blank Card)  Student Schedule  Insurance Applications  Lunch Application (no lunch cards, ID #’s will be used)  PAMS Flyer (Lunch Money Payment)  Letter of Acceptance for Free Lunch (for selected students)  Parent Contract  SES Tutoring Flyer  SES Application  Agenda (have them write their schedule in their agenda) Students will take all the information received in Knights’ Time home to their parents. These forms need to be completed along with the other informational forms and signed by the parents.

Emergency Contact Cards  Please distribute the PREPRINTED Emergency Contact Card for students to review the current information. If there is an error on the contact card, have students put the right information on the card. Allow students to put their name and ID on the BLANK card and then collect the PREPRINTED cards.  Students will be taking home the BLANK Emergency Contact Card to have the rest of the information filled out by their parents. Please explain to students that they must bring back the card by no later than Friday, August 27, 2010.

Attendance  The Electronic Grade Book has the recent updated roster, if you want to verify if a student belongs in your classroom. The Electronic Grade Book will be the official school attendance and it is very important that all teachers understand the procedures. (Mr. Cerami will be reviewing important information).

Immunization Exclusion  Ask students if they have their blue immunization card to turn in and include them in the materials being picked up.  Students who have not had their shots will be called down to the auditorium to receive Immunization information on Tuesday.

No Shows  Any student in your homeroom that does not show up on the first day of school is considered a “NO SHOW”. Please do not remove any of the forms simply place them back in the largest envelope provided. Paper clip together all of the materials for each individual No Show student in alphabetical order and place in the large envelope. This includes; schedule, emergency cards and letter of 3 acceptance for free lunch. Also include any additional forms and materials you have remaining.  In the Electronic Grade Book mark “NS” for any student who is a No Show.  The Security Monitors will be picking up the NO SHOW materials beginning at 10:00 a.m.  ALL ENVELOPES are to be returned to the Main Office; including those who have 100%.

Student Schedule Procedures  Each student will visit all of their classes on the first day of school. Please initial next to your name on the student’s schedule to verify that the student belongs in your classroom and that they have attended all their classes.  Review the section on the student schedules EXPLAINING YOUR SCHEDULE with students so they have a better understanding.

Important Reminders  All students MUST reapply for free /reduced lunch. Inform them that they can sign up on line as stated on the PAMS flyer.  IF THEY HAVE RECEIVED A LETTER OF ACCEPTANCE FOR FREE LUNCH, DO NOT GIVE THEM ANOTHER LUNCH APPLICATION.  Encourage students who play sports, dance, or cheerleading to purchase the insurance.  Please distribute the Student Agendas and have students write their name’s and copy their schedule in their agenda.  Discuss fire exit procedures with all of your classes.  Discuss lunch procedures with your Knights’ Time students, so that they are aware of what lunch they have. Especially those students who have 1 st lunch!!!

THE KNIGHTS TIME/HOMEROOM PERIOD WILL BE HELD UNTIL ALL ENVELOPES ARE COLLECTED.

1. Students attending school for the first time on Tuesday have been classified as NO SHOWS and must report to the CAFETERIA before being admitted to class. 2. Teachers are to admit only those students who were in attendance on Monday or have a signed and dated official copy of their schedule. 3. Students missing immunizations will be called to the auditorium. 4. Print the student check out list from your grade book, have students sign it. 5. Collect and turn in emergency contact cards and free and reduced lunch applications every day in the Main Office.  Be sure to check off the students on the roster list as they turn these items in.  Turn in to the Main Office daily until you have collected 100%
