He is the son 31 of the Reverend and Mrs. Willie J. (Hennie) Choice of 32 Simpsonville, who recall that Delvin came into this world singing 33 “a high soprano that rang throughout Greenville Memorial 34 Hospital. We knew right then that he was a very special gift from 35 God.” Delvin gave his life to the Lord at an early age and is a 36 member of Campfield Baptist Church in Abbeville, where his 37 father is the overseer. He also has sung regularly with the New 38 Springs Church worship band in Anderson; and 39 40 Whereas, this rising young artist has completed four years of 41 classical voice training and was the National Association of 42 Teachers of Singing firstplace winner in 2005 and 2006. In
[1291] 2 1 addition, he placed first in the Omega Talent Hunt Program in 2 2005, 2007, and 2008. He has been a featured soloist for 3 Greenville County Schools and was cast in Greenville Little 4 Theatre’s productions of Ain’t Misbehavin’ and Carousel. Further, 5 Delvin played in the State of South Carolina Children’s Theatre’s 6 Seussical the Musical and Pippin with Fountain Inn Repertory 7 Experience; and 8 9 Whereas, he is the latest in a long line of South Carolina musical 10 artists who have shone brightly on our State; and 11 12 Whereas, appreciative of his talent and hard work, the Senate 13 salutes Delvin Choice and looks with interest to hearing of his 14 further accomplishments in the years ahead. Now, therefore, 15 16 Be it resolved by the Senate: 17 18 That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, 19 congratulate Delvin Choice of Simpsonville for his success on the 20 NBC show The Voice, recognize him for his fine representation of 21 our State to a national audience, and wish him well in all his future 22 endeavors. 23 24 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to 25 Delvin Choice. 26 XX 27
