Career Research Poster Project & Presentation

Career Research Outline, Poster & Presentation Project Due Date: Career Day 2016 (TBA) Outline & Poster: Using research you have conducted at home on your snow days, you will create a poster that showcases what you learned about a career that interests you. The outline and poster will focus on the following important aspects:

Day 1: Complete the Reading/Writing section. Day 2: Complete the Math section. Day 3: Complete the Social Studies section. Day 4: Work on presentation board. Day 5: Complete your presentation board and practice your oral presentation.

 Day 1: Educational requirements (Reading/Writing) o Does this career require a college or technical degree? o How many years of school? o What are good colleges to attend for this career? o What skills does the career require? o What is the job description? o Is this work done inside or outdoors? o  Day 2: Math o What is the annual salary or hourly rate? o Does it stay the same or does it increase annually? o What is the least you could make? Most? o Does education make a difference in salary? o What hours/days are required to work?

 Day3: Social Studies: Interview someone who has this career or use an online interview to answer the following questions: o What are the benefits of this career? o What are some things that may not be so great about the career? o Is this a career that can be found in any city? o Are there any historical/famous people who have had this career? o Show on a map where you would like to be employed.

Presentation: You will be presenting your poster in April. You need to present for a minimum of 4 minutes, speak clearly and loudly, have good posture, appear to know the career well and be able to answer questions on the topic. You may use note cards as guides, but DO NOT READ FROM THEM!!! See the oral presentation rubric for complete details.
