JOB DESCRIPTION FOR THE POST OF: Main Scale Teacher

Grade: Main Scale Responsible To: Director of Learning

DUTIES:

The duties outlined in this job description are in line with those covered by the latest School Teacher’s Pay and Conditions Document. It may be modified by the Headteacher, with your agreement, to reflect or anticipate changes in the job, commensurate with the salary and job title.

CORE TASKS:

(a) The education and welfare of designated classes/groups of students in accordance with the requirements of Conditions of Employment of school teachers, having due regard to the requirements of the National Curriculum, the school’s aims, objectives and schemes of work, and any policies of the Governing Body (b) Plan, implement and record procedures in line with curriculum area/subject policy to facilitate efficient delivery of National Curriculum KS3 & 4 that reflect the school’s commitment to high achievement, effect learning and teaching (c) Ensure curriculum coverage, continuity and progression for all students in their teaching groups, including those of high ability and those with special educational needs (d) Evaluate their own teaching and use this reflection to identify and share effective practice and areas for development, and take action to improve further the quality of their teaching (e) Implement clear practices for assessing, recording and reporting on student achievement in line with school policy and use this information to recognise achievement and to assist students in setting targets for further improvement (f) Ensure that information about students achievements in previous classes or schools is used effectively to secure good progress for their groups in the subject/s (g) Use accommodation to create an effective and stimulating environment for the learning and teaching of the subject. (h) Undertake progress/pastoral duties in line with school policy (i) Ensure that there is a safe working environment in which risks are properly assessed. Curriculum area must ensure it meets all 5 outcomes of the every child matters agenda. ECM to be clearly evidenced in all schemes of work and lesson plans. STANDARDS and QUALITY ASSURANCE:

(a) Support the aims and ethos of the school (b) Set a good example in terms of dress, punctuality and attendance (c) Attend and participate in open evenings and other school events (d) Uphold the school’s behaviour code and uniform regulations (e) Participate in staff training (f) Attend team and whole school staff meetings (g) Develop links with governors, LA and neighbouring schools

OTHER DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

(a) Undertake any reasonable duty at the request and direction of the Headteacher
