As the New Year begins, many are left wondering what the audit environment will look like. We experienced a lot of turbulence and changes in 2016 that left some suppliers reeling, but will the imbalances continue or will that pendulum finally start swinging the other way? This presentation will provide attendees with updated information including the 2017 OIG Work plan and the President’s 2017 budget and how it could impact suppliers participating in the Medicare program. The session will also discuss the status of legislative activities that pertain specifically to improving the fairness and integrity of the Medicare audit and appeal process. Presented by one of the industry’s leading authority on audits, this presentation provides suppliers the education they need in order to properly prepare for the upcoming year. Additionally, CMS announced that Performant Recovery will be the new RAC. This presentation will educate attendees on the types of issues the RAC will be auditing, what their processes are, and what a supplier should do to prepare and respond. Also, in the event of an overpayment, it will explain the steps a supplier should take to navigate successfully through the appeal process.
