Expression of Interest Temporary Classroom Teacher Sydney Children’s Hospital School

Expressions of interest are invited from teachers interested in a career opportunity relieving in the position of Classroom Teacher from 27 January – 8 April (with possibility of extension).

Sydney Children’s Hospital School is a NSW Department of Education K- 12 School that enrolls both inpatients, outpatients and siblings from government and non-government schools. Students are a shared enrolment with their census school. The school leads educational services within the hospital community and provides the continuity of quality education for hospitalised students. Innovative staff demonstrates strong partnerships with students, parents and census schools while working as proactive members of multidisciplinary teams. Students are assigned a teacher as an educational case manager who is responsible for the development of a student's teaching and learning program. Teachers work with census schools, health teams, other educational service providers and families to coordinate health and education goals into personalised learning and transition plans.

Selection criteria

Experience teaching K-6 or K – 12 with evidence of effective differentiation of curriculum delivery to personalise learning and cater for the needs of all students.

Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare, with the ability to design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs in multistage classrooms and for, one on one teaching on hospital wards.

Demonstrated ability to deliver engaging teaching and learning programs with the ability to analyse data to drive differentiated literacy and numeracy programs.

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with classroom teachers, multidisciplinary teams and census schools to support the implementation of personalised learning and support plans for a broad range of student academic and wellbeing needs.

Capacity to integrate technology into teaching and learning with a demonstrated commitment towards fostering blended learning in a 21st Century learning environment.
