1. Table of Contents 2. Introduction

Thank you for purchasing the Cathedral Pipe’s model Karlskirche ( St. Charles’ Cathedral). The Kalrskirche is modeled after the famous C12 by Austrian microphone manufacturer AKG with one big difference. The capsule used is modeled from the Japanese Sony c800 and it is single diaphragm thus only producing the cardioid pattern. It is guaranteed to reproduce you source material with the utmost transparency retaining clarity and the quality you expect. It also has been found to have a cleverly placed bump in the bass response. You have made an excellent decision in choosing such a superior microphone and will not be disappointed. Please send us your comments, as we would love to hear your feedback.

3. Operation

Connect the 7pin cable (supplied with microphone) between power supply and microphone. Audio comes from the additional 3pin XLR on the power supply. If possible use a short cable and a high quality microphone preamplifier (with the phantom power turned off). This is of course best for audio quality. Try to avoid running the microphone signal thru a patch bay or extra connectors and wires. Attach the microphone securely to a good stand and lay the cables so that people cannot trip over the cable or topple the stand. Connect the power supply to the wall outlet and turn on the supply. Let the microphone warm up for at least 5 minutes before using. If the 7 pin, power, or XLR connectors become loose over time, make sure to tighten them with a screw driver.

4. Power Supply

A) XLR output

B) 7pin microphone connection

C) Pattern Selector (Not used in this Model!)

D) 110/230 voltage section (WARNING!! Only use 110 in North America) E) IEC power cable connector

F) Illuminated On/Off switch 5. Polar Patterns

The Karlskiche uses the main polar pattern used with most microphones today :

Cardioid

The most common microphone pickup pattern you'll encounter is the cardioid pattern. Cardioid means "heart-shaped", from the Greek root word "cardi". A cardioid pickup pattern means pickup to the front of the microphone, and to a lesser extent the sides, with good rejection of sound to the back of the microphone. 6. Schematics
