Re: K-12 SAP Training Opportunity (PDE Funded)
As a result of acquired funds at PDE, the Safe Schools Office is offering no-cost training opportunities for your district, available now through June 5,2015.SAP is a mandated K-12 program in Pennsylvania as per Chapter 12, 12.42 of the PA School Code and Act 211 of 1990 (24 P.S. 12.12.42-1547).
This year,K-12 SAP Team training for up to 4 new (additional, per district) SAP team members will be available, and any individual trained will receive the K-12 SAP certification.
The trainings need to be completed by June 5, 2015.Substitute costs, meals, travel, etc. will not be funded. PDE will direct all training monies to the respective Commonwealth Approved Trainers (CAT’s) and not to the individual districts. Act 48 credits will be available for the 3 day K-12 SAP training.
Although every effort will be made to satisfy all districts’ training requests, request fulfillments might be limited based on availability of funds and/or each CAT’s training scheduling parameters. Whenever necessary, also, districts that have requested these PDE funded K-12 SAP training spots within the last 1-2 years but who were never served will be given priority.
Attached to this email is a 2014-15 PNSAS Training RequestForm, with detailed instructions, that should be electronically submitted to your SAP Regional Coordinator by or before 4:00 p.m. October 21, 2014 to assure timely processing and trainer schedule planning.(One Request Form per district, please.) Refer to the 2014-15 “PNSAS Regions and Regional Coordinators” page on www.sap.state.pa.us to determine to whom your district SAP contact person should email the PNSAS Training Request Form. Also attached is a list of 22 participating training agencies (CAT’s) that your district must choose from for these specific PDE funded trainings.
Once your request form is submitted to your SAP Regional Coordinator, it will be reviewed by her/him, and during that process your district SAP contact person should direct initial questions to that Regional Coordinator regarding request status.
Thank you.
