SUNDAY. WOMEN’S EPEE CHECK-IN CLOSES 09-00

ENTRY FEE £20-00 CLOSING DATE FOR INDIVIDUAL ENTRIES THURSDAY 18th APRIL 2013 LATE ENTRIES CANNOT BE ACCEPTED British Fencers. UK entries to Barry Flood, Beech Law, New House Farm, Kiln Pit Hill, Consett. County Durham. DH8 9LR. (Entries will be sent onto the BFA to be forwarded to the FIE) Entries MUST include the FIE licence number and include the £20.00 entry fee Please note: It is not possible to enter by Fax.

Overseas fencers. Entries for the men’s sabre, women’s sabre, women’s epee must be made by National Federations via the FIE . Entries must be made by Thursday 18th April 2013. Late entries cannot be accepted. This ruling also applies to overseas fencers based in Great Britain.

FIE. The men’s sabre, women’s sabre, women’s epee tournaments are appointed by the FIE as satellite World Cup tournaments. The final 8 in these 4 tournaments will be awarded World Cup Points. FIE licences are required for all satellite tournaments. You cannot fence without a FIE licence. GBR Fencers apply to the BFA for a licence. Other Fencers apply to their National Federations.

Format Sabre. Pre-tournament consisting of 1 round of poules. Tournament proper consisting of 1 round of poules, DE without repechage. Epee . 1 round of poules; DE without repechage.

Seeding. For sabre the Coupe du Nord format will be followed. For Epee the format will be:- Fencers seeded by their World Cup Points ranking. Fencers without World Cup Points will be seeded by the drawing of lots.

Equipment. Fencers’ equipment must be in accordance with current FIE rules. For the individual Men’s sabre, Women’s sabre, Women’s epee the equipment will be checked according to the FIE rules. Equipment Check will be open on Friday night between 18-00 and 20-00 hours, all day Saturday and on Sunday 08-30 until 10-00 hours. As of the final 32, fencers in the Men’s sabre, Women’s sabre, Women’s epee are required to have their name and country printed on the back of their lame/jacket.

An Equipment Stand will be available in the Main Hall

Trophies. Trophies will be awarded to the winners for the top 4 in each event.

Directions. By plane, Newcastle International Airport, then metro tram from the airport to Gateshead Stadium Station, then five minutes walk to the venue. By road from the South A1(M) to junction 65 take the A194(M) at end of motorway go left at roundabout on to the A184 (Felling Bypass) stay on the A184 until you see the Stadium Floodlights on the right (approx 4 miles) Turn right at the traffic lights then right again into the car park. By road from the North, leave the A1 at slip road for the A167, stay on the A167, you will come to the A167(M), cross the Tyne Bridge and look for the slip road on the left sign posted A184. Stay on the A184 until you see the Stadium floodlights, turn left at the traffic lights then right into the car park. By Train, Newcastle Central Station then Metro tram to the Stadium Station (2 stops) then five minutes walk to the venue.

Catering. Catering will be available in the café.

All fencers and spectators participate at their own risk, and are personally responsible for their own safety. Spectators are admitted to the venue, and entries accepted, on the understanding that the British Fencing Association, the organising committee, the officials, the referees and the staff of the Gateshead International Stadium cannot accept responsibility for accidents, loss or damage to persons or property, however caused.
