CALLING ALL SORORS TO

THE 20th ANNUAL "DELTA DAYS IN THE NATION’S CAPITAL"

AND THE

5TH ANNUAL “COLLEGIATE FORUM” February 28 – March 3, 2009

November 26, 2008

Dear Sorors:

The 20th Annual "Delta Days in the Nation’s Capital" will be held February 28- March 3, 2009 at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center on the Potomac in Maryland located at 201 Waterfront Street, National Harbor, MD 20745. Under the theme “Advocacy in Action: Strengthening Our Legacy,” we will focus on creating ongoing legislative solutions for the communities that we serve.

This year’s legislative conference will be a momentous occasion as we celebrate twenty consecutive years of Deltas coming to the capital to meet with legislators and key policy-makers on issues that impact us individually and in the communities that we serve as an organization. Topics will include empowering our membership to be effective social action advocates in the areas of quality education, affordable healthcare, Census 2010, and economic viability, to name a few. Although the pages of history have been turned with the recent election, we must remain vigilant in our advocacy efforts. It is our responsibility to keep close contact with our elected officials about issues of concern in the communities that we serve.

Once again, the National Second Vice President, Regional Representatives, and collegiate Commissioners will host the 5th annual Collegiate Forum on Saturday, February 28, 2009. Under the theme “Collegiate Pioneers: Engaging Our Democracy, Evoking Effective Change,” speakers will include national and local young professionals and activists, including collegiate sorors who are impacting policies at the federal and state levels.

The Social Action Commission will conduct an orientation for first-time attendees on Saturday, February 28, 2009 from 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. The workshop will cover the basics of social action in Delta including vital "how to’s" on navigating the legislative process, legislative letter writing, congressional testimony, resolution writing, and coalition building. The orientation is open to all registrants on a first-come, first-serve basis. Registration is limited to the first 175 sorors.

On-line registration for "Delta Days in the Nation’s Capital" will open on November 26, 2008 and close on Monday, January 26, 2009 at Midnight EST. THERE IS NO ON-SITE REGISTRATION. Registration fees are as follows:
