From the President

February is always a fun month, but it can be a bit hectic for DAHU members. On February 4th TAHU Day at the Capital was held in Austin. It was a very informative day starting with Marcy Bruckner, NAHU Legislative VP of Government Affairs giving us the latest & greatest on what’s happening in Washington… and what comes next. The rest of the day consisted of topics that included: the latest on employer FTE reporting, stop-loss regulations, Texas regulators speaking on compliance updates, and information on why we need a Constitutional Convention. There are some big changes coming for State legislators this election season here in Texas. Some very influential legislators that are NOT returning to office: Sen Kevin Eltife, Sen Troy Fraser, Rep John Otto, Rep Myra Crownover and Rep Sylvester Turner. There are five more that are in contested Legislative races. These races can have a critical impact on issues that are near and dear to our hearts. If you want more information about this issue, contact TAHU lobbyist Lee Manross at [email protected] After legislative day, it was on to Washington DC for NAHU Capital Conference from February 21 -24th. This trip was another eye opener on legislative items; from the Leadership Forum, to the outstanding speakers and the great panel discussions, everyone in attendance learned a lot. If you are at all interested in either of these events – plan on Austin and Washington, DC for 2017! Have you explored NAHU Education Foundation lately?
