Advanced Placement Track: Honors English I Summer Reading Assignment

Welcome to Honors English I! This class is first in a series of vertically planned English classes to prepare you for Advanced Placement English in your junior and senior years. Your commitment to participate in GHS’s honors program allows your teacher to prepare you by using the high standards set by The College Board to study various genres of literature in depth and expand your analysis and writing skills to the highest level of proficiency.

To begin your preparations, you are to read Chapters 1-12 of Mythology by Edith Hamilton. You may check the book out from the local library, or you may purchase it from a bookstore or online.

There will be deadlines over the summer you will need to meet in order to receive credit for the assignments. Please adhere to these dates and deadlines.

DO NOT FAIL TO READ THIS TEXT AND COMPLETE THE ASSIGNMENTS. You will be tested on your reading when you return to school; you will also receive a test grade for the assignments, which means that you will receive two test grades within the first full week of school.

Important note: Be sure that you complete all assignments independently and in your own words. Any suspicion of plagiarism will result in a grade of zero.
