Greetings from Harrisonburg, Virginia! As you may know, I am involved with an organization called Young Life (a Christian ministry to high school, middle school, and college students). On April 19th, I will be participating in the Young Life 5K Splatter Run, an event to raise funds to send kids to Young Life camp this summer. You can learn more at harrisonburg.younglife.org.

If you have ever participated in a week of Young Life camp, you know what it feels like to have the best week of your life, and we want every kid to have that experience! We will do all we can to ensure that finances are not an obstacle for anyone. Will you prayerfully consider partnering with me in this effort?

Current and prospective Young Life leaders, interested adults in the community, JMU students, and high school and middle school kids from the Harrisonburg area will participate in the Splatter Run, and proceeds will help offset camp costs for students who cannot otherwise afford to go. As a team of Young Life leaders and prospective leaders, we have decided to raise money to support this cause. We are throwing down a “$20 Challenge.” Twenty dollars is not a lot of money, but it can go a long way toward helping give a kid the best week of their life at Young Life Camp! Would you be willing to help me get kids to camp by donating $20? If you are able to give more we would appreciate it! Camp this summer will cost anywhere from $500-$800 depending on the trip. Maybe you want to sponsor an entire kids’ camp trip! Many of the kids we take to camp don’t have lots of resources, so we depend heavily on scholarships to get them there. We would be grateful for any amount you are able to give.

I have enclosed a self-addressed envelope for your convenience. Please make checks payable to Young Life, write “Donation” in the memo line, and do not put my name on the check. We will be able to track that you are supporting me by marking all our return envelopes. All contributions are tax deductible and you will receive a receipt from Young Life for gifts $25+.
