[1514] 2 1 25” program, designed to modify unsafe driving tendencies of 2 drivers twentyfive and under; and 3 4 Whereas, for her exceptional talent, hard work, and dedication as a 5 broadcast journalist, not only have her stories received recognition 6 from the Associated Press and the South Carolina Broadcasters 7 Association, but she has also earned the coveted Edward R. 8 Murrow Award of Excellence; and 9 10 Whereas, she proudly contributed to Faces of Freedom, a book 11 which profiles fallen heroes who lost their lives in Iraq and 12 Afghanistan, and all the proceeds of the book will go to charities 13 that benefit military families; and 14 15 Whereas, formerly a competitive swimmer and scholarship athlete, 16 she helped to create and promote Limitless Sports, an organization 17 dedicated to strengthening the athletic skills and recreational 18 enjoyment of wheelchairbound children and adults; and 19 20 Whereas, she is a devoted wife and fulltime mother, and together 21 with her beloved husband, Banks Meador, a native of Chester, she 22 is raising three fine sons, Dalton, Evan, and Cooper; and 23 24 Whereas, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly 25 are grateful for the dedication and commitment that Kara Gormley 26 has brought to the field of broadcast journalism and for her 27 compassionate and professional service to the citizens of our great 28 State. Now, therefore, 29 30 Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives 31 concurring: 32 33 That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this 34 resolution, recognize and honor Kara Gormley as she leaves WIS 35 television, and wish her success and happiness in all her future 36 endeavors. 37 38 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to 39 Kara Gormley. 40 XX 41
