LARRY D. 12 GOSS, SR., FOR HIS DEDICATION TO SPREADING THE 13 WORD OF GOD AND SALVATION TO ALL WHOM HE 14 MEETS. 15 16 Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of 17 Representatives find it altogether fitting and proper to pause in 18 their deliberations to applaud the good works of Reverend Dr. 19 Larry D. Goss, Sr.; and 20 21 Whereas, Reverend Goss is a native of Charleston, SC, and is the 22 seventh child born to Horace and Catherina Goss. His spiritual 23 walk began at his home church, Salem Baptist, where he served in 24 the Sunday School, Baptist Training Union ministries, and as a 25 church musician. In 1998, Reverend Goss united with Mt. Moriah 26 Missionary Baptist Church and continued his service to the Lord 27 sharing his musical gifts with the Youth Anointed for Christ choir 28 for five years; and 29 30 Whereas, on February 18, 2001, he accepted his calling from God 31 and was licensed into the gospel ministry under the pastoral 32 leadership of Reverend Dr. Augustus D. Robinson, Jr. In 2005, 33 Reverend Goss received his ordination by the Charleston County 34 Baptist Association. He served on Mt Moriah’s Ministerial staff in 35 various capacities including assisting Pastor Emeritus Robinson in 36 officiating duties, bible study instructor, and as Outreach Minister. 37 In January 2013, Reverend Goss became senior pastor of Mt. 38 Moriah Missionary Baptist Church; and 39 40 Whereas, in March 2017, the Lord led Reverend Goss to plant and 41 pastor a new Ministry called The Destiny Worship Center. The 42 vision of this new ministry is “to reach the world locally and

[4318] 2 1 globally by bridging the multicultural gap through the biblical 2 preaching and teaching of Jesus Christ.” The Destiny Worship 3 Center is located in the Dorchester Terrace community. Reverend 4 Goss believes that the witness for the Gospel will spread 5 throughout the North Charleston area; and 6 7 Whereas, Reverend Goss is a graduate of Burke High School and a 8 former member of the United States Naval Reserve. He is also a 9 graduate of multiple postsecondary institutions. These include 10 Charleston Southern University, where he received a bachelor of 11 science degree in Social Science; University of Georgia, where he 12 earned a master’s degree in Humanities; and J.D. University, 13 where he attained two doctorates in Religious Education and 14 Pastoral Counseling. In August 2014, Reverend Goss was the 15 recipient of an Honorary Doctor of Divinity from St. Thomas 16 University in Florida; and 17 18 Whereas, Pastor Goss is a presidential member in good standing of 19 the American Association of Christian Counselors and currently 20 serves on the Whitfield boards of Charleston Southern University’s 21 religion department and the North Charleston and Vicinity 22 Ministerial Alliance. He is a former pastoral representative with 23 the city of North Charleston for the Mayoral Task Force to Abate 24 Retaliatory Crimes and a former board member of CO Federal 25 Credit Union and United Methodist Relief Center. He is a former 26 mentor for Daniel Island Schools; and 27 28 Whereas, most recently, Reverend Goss led a successful effort to 29 build the Mount Moriah Christian Academy in Lugazi, Africa, 30 which was completed in December 2016; and 31 32 Whereas, Reverend Goss is married to the former Miss Sharon E. 33 Anderson. They were married at Mt. Moriah in 2000. Mrs. Goss 34 was serenaded by her awaiting groom, singing “On the Wings of 35 Love” by Jeffrey Osborne. Mt. Moriah’s first family is blessed 36 with three children, Kristian E. Goss, Kailin E. Goss, and Larry D. 37 Goss, Jr., of which their parents are extremely proud; and 38 39 Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of 40 Representatives thank Reverend Goss for his commitment and 41 wish him much success and happiness in all his future endeavors. 42 Now, therefore, 43
