Location: Texas Hall Date: Monday, December 12, 2005 Time: 3:00 p.m. (Candidates arrive by 2:15 p.m.) Tickets: Tickets are required for all guests. Tickets are limited to 10 per graduate.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

1. It is essential that we have the names of all students who plan to participate in the commencement ceremony to prepare name cards and plan seating arrangements.

2. Caps, gowns, tassels, hood, and invitations may be purchased through the UTA Bookstore. Bachelor’s candidates should purchase a cap, gown, and tassel. Bachelor’s candidates with Cum Laude, Magna Cum Laude or Summa Cum Laude status may purchase honor cords through the UTA bookstore. Call the Registrar’s Office – Graduation Desk (817-272-2577) if you are unsure of your status. Master’s and PhD candidates should purchase a cap, gown, tassel and hood. Master’s doctoral candidates have no honor designations.

3. HONOR CODE (Cum Laude, Summa Cum Laude, Magna Cum Laude): Undergraduate candidates should find out the Honor Code status when you apply for graduation at the Registrar’s Office. Contact the Graduation Desk at the Registrar’s Office (817-272-2577) to verify your status.

4. You are urged to leave purses or valuables locked in your car or arrange for someone to keep personal belongings; no items may be left in the line-up area. If you carry items into the auditorium during the ceremony, you should plan to take them with you when crossing the stage. You may not be returning to the same seat afterwards.

5. DO NOT bring cell phones. Using cell phones or text messaging is not allowed during the ceremony.

6. Tassels on caps are to be worn on the right side for the entire ceremony. After your degree has been conferred, you will be asked as a group to move your tassel from the right to the left.

7. Master’s hoods are worn; PhD hoods are carried over the left arm and turned so that colors show. 8. Many of you or your guests may be attending a university commencement for the first time. Please be aware that unlike the boisterous atmosphere of today’s high school graduations, a university commencement is a solemn ceremony that recognizes the significant accomplishments of our graduates. Please remind your guests to be respectful of all our graduates and invited speakers and to limit their participation or demonstrations to applause.

9. TICKETS

a) Tickets will be available beginning November 21, 2005 in the Dean’s Office in 206 Life Science Building.

b) There is a 10 ticket limit for each graduate. In the event that there are extra tickets, any unclaimed tickets will be available at the Texas Hall box office at 2:00 p.m. on December 12th on a “first come, first served” basis.

c) Graduates must show identification and sign for guest tickets.

ASSEMBLE FOR PROCESSIONAL

1. Arrive at Texas Hall no later than 2:15 p.m. Enter at the rear entrance on the west side of the building. If your guests arrive with you, they must use the (east) front entrance into the auditorium.

0 2. Check in and pick up your name card at the table located inside the rear entrance of Texas 1 Hall.

3 After receiving your name card, proceed to your designated section in the bleacher area.

4. Please make sure you line up numerically, in ascending order, according to the number on your name card.

REGALIA

Bachelor’s degree candidates may purchase their cap, gown, and tassel at the UTA Bookstore. Please purchase your regalia no later than November 22nd, this will assure you of correctly fitting regalia with the appropriate color tassel. Although we maintain a stock of Bachelors regalia, we can not guarantee size availability after November 22nd.

The cost is as follows: Cap, gown, and tassel $25.95 Master’s degree candidates may purchase their cap, gown, tassel, and hood at the UTA Bookstore. Please purchase your regalia no later than November 22nd, this will assure you of correctly fitting regalia with the appropriate color tassel. Although we maintain a stock of Masters regalia, the hoods are custom made and we can not guarantee academic color availability after November 22nd.

The cost is as follows: Cap, gown, & tassel $28.95 Hood $23.50

Doctoral degree candidates have the option of using rented regalia. You will need to rent a cap, gown, tassel (antique gold in color), and hood. Please rent your Ph.D. regalia no later than November 22nd. Any orders submitted after that date will require a $15.50 expediting fee plus express air freight charges (if necessary to insure timely delivery).

The cost is as follows: cap, gown, & tassel $21.95 Hood $19.95

The official UTA commencement announcement and invitation are available only at the UTA Bookstore for $10.95 per package of 10 or $24.95 per package of 25. Both the invitation and announcement comes with an inner envelope, and outer envelope, and a gold foil seal.
