Assignment Throughout our meteorology unit, we have been listening to various Summary: songs. These songs have all had something to do with the different weather topics we discussed. Your task is to write your own song about weather. First, choose a topic from the list provided to you. Once you have a topic, you need to choose a familiar tune. Or if you would prefer, you can write one of your own. Then you’re ready to write your lyrics. Be creative! Last, after your lyrics are done, you’ll be performing your song in front of the class (feel free to use musical instruments as well as your voices - yes, you need to sing). Your song should show the class what you have learned about the weather topic of your choice.

Purpose: Practical/informative, imaginative/narrative

Audience: The class

Form: Song lyrics (verse, chorus, etc.)

FCAs: 1. Correct content with at least 5 weather vocab words (50 pts.) 2. At least 15 unique lines (30 pts.) 3. Clear sequence of detail or information (20 pts.)

Procedure: 1. Choose a topic from the list provided. 2. Choose a tune to set your lyrics to. 3. Write your lyrics (Type 3). 4. Practice performing your song! 5. Topics: Layers of the atmosphere Energy transfer (radiation, conduction, convection) Dew point and relative humidity Clouds Air masses and fronts Weather map symbols/weather cyclers Winds/air movement Severe weather (thunderstorms, tornadoes, hurricanes, etc.)

Grading: Lyrics (Type 3) 100 pts. Performance 50 pts. Total 150 pts.
