Australian Gt Championship to Star in 2010 Clipsal 500 Adelaide Feature Race Program

SPECIAL ROLE FOR VODKA O AUSTRALIAN GT CHAMPIONSHIP AT 2011 CLIPSAL 500 ADELAIDE

The Vodka O Australian GT Championship is proud to announce its special role as part of the event’s feature race program at the 2011 Clipsal 500 Adelaide.

Competitors in the 2011 Vodka O Australian GT Championship at the Clipsal 500 Adelaide will compete in a 1 hour enduro at the iconic event that is Australia’s largest domestic motor sport event.

The event has been titled the Murray Walker Tourist Trophy and will add to the prestige of the GT category.

‘The enduro race at an event of this calibre will provide fantastic viewing for the fans, and will also showcase the GT field in a manner for which these thoroughbred cars were designed’, Australian GT Management said today.

The sixty minute enduro event will be held on the Friday of the event with the glamorous grid racing into the twilight to add to the spectacle.

‘The twilight sight of flames belching from the exhausts and glowing disc brake rotors from cars such as the Audi R8 LMS, Mosler, Lamborghini Gallardo GT3 , Aston Martin, Porsche Cup S, Ferrari, Ascari, Lotus, Corvette, and Nissan GTR will be awesome around the Adelaide street circuit’.

A compulsory pit stop (CPS) will be part of the extended race with teams having the option of one or two drivers.

GT Management has indicated the strong possibility of international drivers joining the field for the Clipsal 500 Adelaide event.

The GT category will practice on the Thursday evening competing in twilight conditions and will also be involved in sprint racing over the four day event.

In another Clipsal 500 Adelaide innovation, the Vodka O Australian GT paddock will be located just inside the main entrance to the circuit (Gate 1 off Halifax Street) and will be part of the Murray Walker Extreme Machines car display.

‘The inspirational nature of the Vodka O Australian GT cars that represent the world’s most prestigious automobile manufacturers is an ideal fit with the Murray Walker’s Extreme Machines that in most cases are road versions of our race cars that together are valued at millions of dollars’, GT Management said.
