Afterschool Wednesdays @ Boys and Girls Club in Goleta – Fun themed activities each week of the school year planned & supervised by GUSD District Behavior Specialists to facilitate successful interaction in an inclusive setting. Yoga, Hip Hop Dance, and Marshall Arts on Tuesdays, 3:45 – 5 pm during the weeks following basketball. Sign up at [email protected]; or call 805/681-9165.
First Fridays for Parents of Children ages birth – 4 years old with Down syndrome, and siblings of similar age. Visit with other parents on the same journey, volunteers available to help with play time, guest specialists’ visit to answer questions, activities and refreshment. SB Trolley Holiday Lights Tour: Friday, December 17th, 6 – 8 pm; Families of children with special needs are invited to experience favorite Christmas stories and carols, games, cookies and hot cocoa while touring the city to see holiday lights, fun and magic for everyone. RSVP- advanced ticket purchase required.
Hearts Holiday Horse Adventure Camp - December 27th – 31st; 9 am until Noon for riders ages 8-13. Call for details and registration - 805/964-1519.
Valentines Dance: Saturday, February 5, 2011; A special night of dinner, dancing and fun for families and friends of all ages and loved ones with any special needs. Volunteers sought to make this very special annual event. Contact Retta @ 805/681-9165.
Challenger Little League Baseball for ALL: Saturdays, 9 – 11 am, Feb – May, 2011, for boys and girls ages 5 – 22 with special needs. Teams for all levels of competitive and non- competitive play, including wheelchair users. T-ball, coach pitch, Triple A division. Volunteers available as needed. Registration begins December for this popular program in SB and Ventura Counties. Recruiting Volunteers to Coach, Asst Coach, Field Staff, Buddies, party planners, cheerleaders, sport announcers for 10 plus teams – www.GoChallengers.org.
Spring Basketball @ Page Youth Center: Six Tuesdays, April 05 – May 10; 3:45 – 5 pm. Players ages 5 – 18 with special needs will learn basic drills and skills of the game. Register with Page Youth Center – www.pageyouthcenter.org.
SB Forester/Challenger Baseball Clinic: June, Girsh Park 9:30 – 11:30 am; Learn Baseball skills and other fun APE games assisted with the SB Foresters and Challenger volunteers as buddies. Register at www.sbSNAP.org; Information at [email protected]
“Lose the Training Wheels” Bike Camp: Summer 2011; Individuals with disabilities will learn to ride a bike without training wheels using customized bikes. Interested? Join our email waiting list to secure your choice of sessions.
Summer Sports Variety Camp: Children will enjoy being introduced to a variety of new sports: dance, hula hoops, flag tag, basketball, soccer, marshal arts, gymnastics, basketball and other court sports etc. Date to be determined– July, 2011.
