Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 Act as Product Safety Certifier for TÜV SÜD America; inspect, test, and photograph products for conformity assessment with international regulations, with the end result being the certificate of conformance for the client.  Prepare reports and documentation for certification of customer products to the appropriate standards. Generate revenue by billing engineering time to our clients, usually on a project basis, for Constructional Review, Testing, Preliminary Evaluations and Certifications activities.  Correspond, orally, and in writing, with Product Safety Agencies such as UL, CSA and VDE with respect to Product Design Approaches for Safety.  Sell Product Safety engineering services through telephone consulting, customer education, and giving seminars on Product Safety.  Acquires new business and supports existing business for all testing services  Perform Factory Inspections and field evaluation services to NFPA, UL, ANSI and CSA requirements

Requirements include, but are not limited to:

 Minimum bachelor’s degree in electrical, industrial, mechanical, or safety engineering  Professional engineer certification, or equivalent, a plus  A minimum of 5 years Product Safety experience is preferred.  Product experience with lighting highly desirable.  Testing experience with goniophotometers for testing lamps and luminaries, automotive and airport lighting, as well as retro-reflective material, and integrating spheres, and ENERGY STAR® testing  Skilled at reading and understanding significant electrical power schematics a must  Good ability to conduct risk assessments  Solid customer service and project handling skills  Proficiency in other safety standards, especially CE marking and US electrical code desired  Knowledge of European directives and standards  Knowledge of guidelines and U.S. safety requirements  Knowledge of Windows, MS Office and electronic mail necessary.
