Job Purpose

PKAVS has an exciting and varied opportunity for a Marketing & Fundraising Assistant to join its Marketing and Development Team and support the activities of a thriving and dynamic charity. Energetic, motivated and creative, the successful candidate will be key in supporting the delivery of the Community fundraising activity and PKAVS fundraising events, while contributing to the administration of PKAVS’ core marketing and other fundraising activities.

In conjunction with the Fundraising and Marketing Manager, you will be responsible for planning and delivering high profile fundraising events and Community fundraising campaigns to raise unrestricted funding for the charity. With excellent interpersonal skills, you will support staff, volunteers and community fundraisers in their activities in line with fundraising and marketing objectives. You will maintain the charity’s website and social media channels, write press releases and deliver presentations to community audiences.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

 Work as part of the Fundraising and Marketing Team to promote and raise funds for PKAVS, contributing to the development, delivery and monitoring of marketing/fundraising plans.

 Plan, with support of the Fundraising and Marketing Manager, PKAVS’ annual programme of fundraising events and Community Fundraising activities and take responsibility for the organisation, budgeting and delivery of these activities in line with fundraising targets.

 Liaise with donors / sponsors to secure support and prizes for fundraising events and with the local media to issue press releases and organise press photo calls.

 Identify and motivate community-based fundraisers, deliver presentations, support them in their activities and develop fundraising packs and toolkits.

 Provide administrative support including the maintenance and development of the donor database, gift aid returns, collation of statistics and thank you letters for donors.  Administer website and social media updates.

 Contribute to the design and production of leaflets and other printed publications

 Create and distribute information updates and newsletters in line with communication and marketing plans.

 Draft press releases and Case Studies promoting the work of PKAVS, volunteering and the Third Sector.

 Maintain electronic/hard-copy press libraries and other filing systems.

 Support colleagues in promoting the PKAVS corporate brand, developing tools and templates to support this.

 Work with colleagues to research and prepare funding bids for small grants

 Support the engagement and coordination of volunteers to assist with fundraising events

 Represent and promote PKAVS at events / conferences as required.

 Work within a target-driven income generation role

Person Specification

Essential Desirable Experience of working in a marketing / fundraising / events environment  Excellent communication skills (written, verbal and presentation)  Excellent interpersonal skills  Ability to write high quality copy for press, web or printed publication  Ability to multi-task, prioritise workload and work on own initiative  Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Office applications and an eye for  design Motivated and creative in approach to work planning and delivery  Knowledge of social media tools  Ability to network at all levels and present at a high standard  Ability to work effectively in a team  Flexibility and willingness to work outside normal office hours  Full driving licence and use of own car  Educated to degree level or equivalent  Knowledge/experience of the Voluntary Sector  Knowledge/ experience of Volunteering and working with Volunteers  Experience of planning, budgeting and delivering events  Experience of researching and preparing funding applications  Experience of maintaining a website  Experience of working within a target-driven role  Additional Information

Employer: The post-holder shall be employed by Perth & Kinross Association of Voluntary Service Ltd (PKAVS) a registered charity in Scotland SC 005561).

Location of Work: This post will be based at The Gateway, North Methven Street, Perth PH1 5PP or other sites/services as required by the organisation.

Responsible To: Fundraising and Marketing Manager

Probation: This post carries a 6 month probationary period.

Induction: A planned Induction Programme will be offered together with relevant job specific training.

Offer of Employment: An offer of appointment will be made subject to two satisfactory references.

Support and Supervision: The post holder will receive regular support and supervision carried out by the Fundraising and Marketing Manager.

Holidays PKAVS determines annual leave entitlement in hours and not days to ensure equity for all employees by ensuring that staff who work variable hours/shifts do not receive either more or less leave than colleagues who work a standard shift pattern.

On appointment – 238 hours Equivalent to 34 days (26 days annual leave and 8 public holidays.

After 2 years – 252 hours Equivalent to 36 days (28 days annual leave and 8 public holidays)

After 3 years – 273 hours Equivalent to 39 days (31 days annual leave and 8 public holidays)

Please note that annual leave hours stated above are based on you working full-time. This will be calculated on a pro rata basis for part time staff.
