Opera (Property Management System)

Opera is a computer-based, Property Management System. Opera system contains 4 sets of computer soft ware packages capable of supporting a variety of activities in Front and Back office of the Hotel.

Opera is a property management system (PMS) used by over 200,000 hotels worldwide. It is therefore by far, the most popular system used in hotels, and those students wishing to pursue a career in Front Office, and Reservation Dept. must understand how Opera works.

Like all PMS’s, Opera is designed to automate hotel reservations, reception, housekeeping etc in order to increase efficiency and reduce time taken for processing the above information.

Opera helps front office employees/ students to perform functions related to:-

Statement of Purpose

Students will achieve the following benefits by completing Opera (computerised reservations system) lesson plans:

 A starting point as a front office guest relation officer/Receptionist

 Managing the complexity of front office communication between the front office and other departments. (housekeeping, food and beverage and engineering departments)

 Responding and solving and reacting appropriately to unexpected problems, complaints, changes in routine and breakdown.

 Fulfilling the responsibilities and providing excellent services exceeding our guests’ expectation.

Step (1); Click on the icon Opera Login (highlighted in red).

Once you clicked on the icon, your page should look like below.

Step (2); Type in your username and password; then click login.

The Infinity Vibe Hotel 2102 Pyrmont St Darling Harbour, 2000 Sydney, NSW. staying, and number of adults, children then click ok. (highlighted purple).

7 Computerised Reservation system ( Opera Version 5.5) Manual Step (7); Fill in details such as Family name, first name, res. Type, source, payment; credit card No. & exp. date; any important information.

9 Computerised Reservation system ( Opera Version 5.5) Manual If steps followed correctly, the Reservation process is completed. And they system will give you the reservation number or confirmation number.

CHECK IN PROCEDURES. (STEP-BY-STEP)

Step One; After following the steps of the reservation process, you will come to this page. Click on the Front Desk icon (highlighted red) and click the Arrivals tab (highlighted in orange).

Step Four; After clicking Check In this window should appear, choose an available room then click OK. (highlighted in green).

process.

CHECK OUT PROCEDURES. (STEP-BY-STEP)

15 Computerised Reservation system ( Opera Version 5.5) Manual Step One; After following the steps of the reservation process, and have successfully Check In your guest. You will come back to the menu. Now you will click Cashiering tab (highlighted red) and click the Billing tab (highlighted orange).

Step Two; After clicking the billing tab a Cashier Login window will appear, type in your password you have used when you have logged into the Opera system. Then click Login.

Step Five; After clicking Select the bottom window should appear. If there is any charges to be made on the account click Post, but if there is none, you click the Settlement Tab (highlighted blue).

Step Six; Click Early Departure (highlighted purple) then click OK.

Step Seven; After clicking OK the payment window will appear, now click Post.

20 Computerised Reservation system ( Opera Version 5.5) Manual Step Seven; After clicking post you will return back to the billing window. Print out the folio by clicking the Folio tab (highlighted pink), then click Check Out.

If

steps are followed correctly the guest will check out and you will receive a window saying the guest has successfully checked out, and you will return back to the menu.

Next step is to issue the guest with a room key, and ask if they need any assistance with their luggage.
