The first week of NECAP Testing has come to an end. Parents of our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade stu- dents should be immeasurably proud of their children for putting forth their best effort! Hundreds of effort tickets were earned! Students who earn multiple effort tickets will attend a special in- -school reward on October 18. Next week is math NECAP testing. Try these problems with your child:

Grade 3:

A fence is 3 feet 6 inches tall. 12 inches = 1 foot How many inches tall is the fence?

\ A. 21 inches \ B. 30 inches \ C. 36 inches \ D. 42 inches

Grade 4:

How many days are in 2 years and 3 weeks? 365 days = 1 year 7 days = 1 week

\ A. 221 days \ B. 372 days \ C. 730 days \ D. 751 days

Grade 5: a. Use mathematical language to describe one way that a cylinder and a rectangular prism are alike . b. Use mathematical language to describe one way that a cylinder and a rectangular prism are different . Use the term “base” in your response. The Family Halloween Dance Committee will meet again on Tuesday, October 8th at 7pm. The dance will be held on Friday, October 25th, so be sure to mark your calendar for this SPOOKTACULAR evening! If you are unable to attend, but would still like to help, please email Ally Gordon at [email protected].

The Smencils Fundraiser has returned to Lonsdale! Next Monday, October 7th is the last day they will be sold during lunch/recess. However, these awesome pencils will be available for pur- chase at upcoming school events. They are just $1.00 each.

Your LPT would like you to take the night off from cooking on Wednesday, October 16th. On that evening The Lodge will be hosting a Restaurant Fundraiser Night where a percentage of all sales will go to Lonsdale. A special dining coupon came home this week via backpack and must be presented that evening for Lonsdale to receive credit.

It is never too late to send in your Parent Paw Pledge. If you are interested in volunteering in any capacity, a background check is required. BCI checks can be done at the Lincoln Police Station 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They are free of charge and do not need to be no- tarized. Please submit your form to Mrs. Magliocco as soon as possible.

Thank you to everyone who sponsored a duck in the 5th Annual Blackstone River Duck Race. This fun family event will take place on Sunday, October 20th beginning at 11am. There will be food, face painting, a bouncy tent, a rock climbing wall and much more at Hope Global (50 Martin Street, Cumberland). At 1pm the adorable rubber yellow ducks will be released in masses into the river for an amazing race down the Blackstone River. There is a chance to win one of over 50 prizes, including the Grand Prize of $2,500! Good luck to all the ducks!

On behalf of Foster Forward, thank you to all who donated a costume to the Costume and Win- ter Clothing Drive. The organization is currently collecting new and gently used winter coats and Halloween costumes to be distributed to families in need. The deadline has been ex- tended until October 11. A collection box is located in front of the school office. Thank you!
