ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST JOB DESCRIPTION

Company brief EcoConServ Environmental Solutions is an environmental consultancy firm that provides services in the following fields: environmental and social impact assessments, environment and energy audits, renewable energy, clean development mechanism, industrial pollution prevention and control, solid and hazardous waste management, water resources management, environmental management systems, training and institutional development, and monitoring and evaluation. EcoConServ has undertaken numerous projects nationally, in most Governorates in Egypt, and internationally, in Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Ethiopia, Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Tunisia, Algeria, Libya, Iran, Pakistan, and for the Palestinian Authority. EcoConServ works in partnership with reputable international firms in Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Ireland, Japan, the Netherlands, Spain, the United Kingdom, the United States, as well as local firms. Among EcoConServ’s clients are multilateral organizations and donor agencies, such as the World Bank, UNDP, USAID, Canadian International Development Aid (CIDA), United Kingdom Department for International Development (DfID), Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ) GmbH, and Danida, as well as government agencies and private international and national companies.

Work tasks For Project Coordination:  Manage technical projects, such as environmental and social impact assessments, due diligence audits, environmental audits, environmental surveys and feasibility studies  Staff the projects, and schedule a diverse personal workload to meet project deadlines  Prepare ToRs for sub-contracted consultants  Coordinate projects with clients and sub-contracted consultants  Communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders, including clients, sub- contractors, and consultants.  Assume responsibility for certain technical aspects of the projects, including making field visits and conducting sampling, if required  Compile and edit/proofread reports  Administer payment to sub-contracted consultants

For Technical Input: In addition to the above-mentioned tasks, the environmental management specialist will be responsible for the following tasks:  Prepare project background information and methodology for technical projects  Identify tools and supporting team members required for projects  Identify national and international legislation related to the project activities  Prepare a process description (for industrial projects) and illustrate the process using illustration software such as AudoCADAutoCAD or Visio  Conduct site surveys (if required)  For environmental impact assessment studies: analyze the project impacts, identify mitigation measures, and prepare a complete environmental management plan.  For environmental audit studies: identify due diligence for each environmental, occupational, health and safety parameter.  For market analysis studies: design proper questionnaires to conduct the studies, analyze questionnaire responses, and determine the feasibility of the project.

Requirements  Bachelor’s degree in engineering, chemistry, physics, economics or other relevant studies. Master's degree or PhD is considered an asset.  Proficiency in spoken and written English.  Minimum of 5 years of professional experience.  Good communication and report-writing skills.  Able to work efficiently in a team environment and perform as a team player.  Demonstrate good reasoning ability (define problems, collect and interpret information, and draw valid conclusions).  Show creativity, sound judgment and be result-driven. Capacity to work on a number of projects simultaneously.  Ability to travel within and outside Egypt.
