Job purpose

The Humane Society of Sedona is seeking a Marketing and Social Media Intern to create and manage marketing, branding, and social media campaigns. This position will coordinate and monitor marketing and digital content, collaborating with the Development and Marketing Manager to maintain full integrity with HSS’s mission and message.

Duties and responsibilities  Managing the social media marketing strategy as determined by the DMM; focusing on Twitter, Facebook, Google+, YouTube, Instagram.  Execution of all social media activities (i.e. tweeting, sharing, engaging, liking, increasing social reach, Facebook ads, etc)  Communicating in a professional, but unique social media “voice” for each animal, event & initiative; directly aligned with the social media marketing strategy of HSS.  Placing content for print media, as well as creating radio copy for local publications and stations.  Writing blog articles to be placed on company website.  Managing HSS website under direction from DMM.  Various elements of special event planning, including, but not limited to; communicating with event volunteers, procurement efforts with potential donors, clerical tasks, etc.  Majority of position can be done remotely, occasional visits may be required, including during the first week of training at HSS  Other marketing/event/social media related duties as needed Qualifications  Self- motivated, hungry for a challenge, and looking to make an immediate impact.  Fully entrenched in social media culture and understand the fine line of managing a professional, but effective social media presence.  You want to work hard and be part of a fun, non-profit organization.  Have an advanced understanding of web technology and how it supports marketing.  Enjoy writing and are good at it, and have strong proofreading capabilities.  Organized and can work independently.  Proficient in emerging social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Google +, WordPress, and Youtube  Strong proficiency with MS Office  Excellent oral, written, presentation and networking skills  Ability to handle deadlines and multiple assignments efficiently and effectively with a strong attention to detail  Excellent research, creative writing, proofreading and editing skills  Self-starter, ability to take initiative, be innovative, and function as an effective team player  Forward thinking with the ability to stay abreast of trends and emerging media technologies  Ability to work well under pressure and consistently meet deadlines  Knowledge of animal sheltering or welfare a plus

Working conditions Willingness to support the positions and ideals of the Humane Society of Sedona. Maintain a valid driver’s license with access to transportation to travel on organization business.

Physical requirements May be asked to do minor lifting if planning for or working at a special event.
