JO ANN KOPLIN KOPLIN DESIGN PARTNERS [email protected] [email protected]

JoAnn has over 15 years of experience in the field of school architecture, design and construction. In 1998 she formed Koplin Design Partners, inc., a consulting firm that developed a focus on charter school facility assistance. KDi currently specializes in school facility master planning, programming, project management and assistance with funding applications and emergency plans.

Work experience includes: GIS Mapping Studies, Project Management, Educational Facility Planning, Feasibility Studies, Space Planning, Emergency Planning, and Interior Design and Graphics.

As the Director of Facilities for the California Charter Schools Association (CCSA) JoAnn had the opportunity to visit charter schools across California, gaining a strong understanding of the challenges with finding, constructing and moving into new facilities. Working with architects, to permit and construct new and renovated buildings, she developed a strong grasp on entitlement and code compliance issues.

Emergency planning became an area of interest through work with the State Architects office and through a REMS grant she became the project manager for 35 Oakland schools in 2009-2010.

Having served on two charter boards, JoAnn has the owner’s perspective when it comes to budget and finance ability for new projects. Community service continues to be of great importance; elected to the Beverly Hills Board of Education for two terms in 1993; the State Architects Advisory Board in 2001; James Jordan Middle School Board in 2009 and Synergy Charter School Board in 2010. She was appointed to Senator Roberti’s Select Committee Task Force on Education in 1994, and the CASH Grant Advocacy Task Force in 2003. JoAnn currently serves as the Housing Chair for the Hollywood West Neighborhood Council and sits on the local Planning and Land Use Management (PLUM) committee.
