The Great Turkey Drop HPFB needs everyone’s help to make sure no table goes without a turkey.
Due to a consistent price increase in frozen turkeys, High Plains Food Bank is holding a one-day frozen turkey drive. The Great Turkey Drop will be Friday Nov. 9th from 11:00am-7:00pm at all Amarillo Walmart locations.
A total of 3,500 turkeys is needed to assist Texas Panhandle families this year. People can drop off their turkeys at Walmart locations or they can make a monetary donation of $10 that the Food Bank will use to purchase the Thanksgiving staple. Thanks to Lane and Kelly Seliger all monetary donations will be matched.
Each year Food Bank partner agencies request turkeys for their clients. So that no one goes without this central piece of a Thanksgiving meal. Thanks to generous community support the Food Bank distributed over 3,500 turkeys last year alone.
“We are finding it harder and harder to meet the need for Thanksgiving and Christmas turkey requests,” Zack Wilson, Executive Director said. “A steady decline in donated turkeys coupled with high prices, makes it impossible for us to do it without the help of our local communities.”
Ways to give:
1. Drop off a frozen turkey at any Amarillo Walmart Friday, Nov. 9th from 11:00am-7:00pm
2. Donate $10 for the Food Bank to purchase a turkey with cash, check, or charge
3. Donate online at hpfb.org
