Joliet, IL – Joliet Junior College and Purina Animal Nutrition are proud to announce their Third Annual “Showring Success Seminar” to be held Saturday, March 22, 2014. This year’s event will feature demonstrations and information on feeding, fitting, showmanship and management of beef cattle, swine, sheep, meat goats, and poultry. Joliet Junior College will once again be featuring a Youth Livestock Skill-a-Thon covering all species. The skill-a-thon is open to all youth in attendance. In addition, the University of Illinois will have Pork Quality Assurance Training (PQA) available. The “Showring Success Seminar” has become the most comprehensive and helpful livestock program in the area.

The 2014 Honor Show Chow “Showring Success Seminar” will feature one of the most talented and accomplished group of presenters to date. They will include:

 Brad Angus, Joliet Junior College. Brad is an instructor at JJC and is a recognized judge. He has judged numerous state fairs, as well as national stock shows in Houston, Denver, and Louisville. Brad and his family raise Oxford sheep and club lambs.

 Kent Bennington, Kilmer Swine Farm. Kent is the Manager at Kilmer Swine Farm. Kilmer Swine Farm is one of the leading boar studs and producer of show pigs in the Midwest. Kent is a respected judge and his family is competitive in the hog show ring. Kent is a National Ambassador for Honor Show Chow.

 Mark Johnson, A&M Ranch. Mark is a National Ambassador for Honor Show Chow. He is a veteran judge, having judged numerous state fairs and national events. Mark and his family have been very successful in breeding, fitting, and showing A&M Ranch Southdown sheep for over 30 years.

 Dan DeMeyer. Dan is one of the most respected judges and fitters of beef cattle in the country. He is a Professor for Sullivan’s StockShowU. He has fitted and fed champion Angus cattle and show steers from California to Ohio.

 Chris Fleming. Chris is a successful meat goat breeder and exhibitor. He is also a popular clinician and judge.

 Ben Burkett. Ben is one of the longest tenured and most popular poultry judges in the Midwest.

The “Showring Success Seminar” will be held Saturday March 22, 2014 at the Weitendorf Agricultural Education Center, 17840 Laraway Rd, Joliet, IL 60433. Check in begins at 8:30 am and the program starts at 9:00. Pre-registration ends March 1, 2014. Everyone who pre-registers will receive a limited edition Northern Illinois Showring Success t-shirt.
