This qualification covers workers in a range of roles who provide assistance to support the provision of health care services to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander clients. Trainees will learn to undertake a range of tasks under direct supervision to support the provision of health care services to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander clients. They may learn the job roles of:

 trainee health worker

 assistant in a rural or urban environment

 delivering limited health care services to clients living in communities that are isolated from mainstream health services

Outcome  Qualification in Certificate II in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care HLT20113 (NRT). Health Services Training Package HLTv3  Work as an Assistant in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care and a career path into the Health Services sector. Course delivery Both on the job (clinical placement) and off the job and will be delivered face-to-face. Commitment required Undertake a minimum of 100 days in paid employment and training. Complete Certificate II in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care HLT20113 (NRT). The employment and training can be undertaken during school time, after school and during school holidays. How will you be assessed? Both on the job and off the job through written tests, project work & practical exercises.

Eligibility HSC unit credit: For ATAR Aboriginal and Torres No 6 units over two years towards your HSC for the structured Strait Islander Primary training component (VET course) undertaken as part of the Health Care course school based traineeship. Industry-based Learning No This optional course is offered as recognition of the course significant work component involved in the school based (optional) traineeship. If undertaken this course offers an additional 4 units credit towards your HSC.
