LAURA BRYAN SoftPro
Laura is a graduate of Appalachian State University, in Boone, North Carolina. There she focused on Industrial/Organizational Psychology. She joined SoftPro in 2007 in their Sales Department and has directly worked with their trust account reconciliation service team for almost 6 years. Laura has given multiple CLE presentations on the importance of managing and reconciling trust accounts to North Carolina attorneys. Laura is now the SoftPro Sales Consultant for North Carolina and the Southeast United States. She is a member of ALTA, TIPAC and The Title Action Network. At SoftPro, being up-to-speed on regulatory changes and anything going on in our industry is a daily focus. Also noteworthy, Laura worked for a North Carolina real estate attorney in high school and college doing title searches and typing HUDs on a typewriter. (So, she definitely appreciates the improvements software has brought to the title and closing industry!)
CHRISTOPHER J. GULOTTA Real Estate Data Shield
Chris Gulotta is CEO and founder of Real Estate Data Shield, The Gulotta Law Group, and Paradigm Title Agency & Settlement and has represented institutional lenders in mortgage finance transactions for more than 20 years. He has developed compliance management platforms for mortgage lenders, title underwriters, and title and settlement agents.
His title and settlement experience has enabled him to develop a highly specific compliance and data security training courseware for lenders and settlement service providers. Through his companies, Chris successfully addresses the needs of his lender clients with a focus on accountability, accessibility, transparency, and the highest levels of post-closing critical suspense performance. A successful lawyer and entrepreneur, Chris now brings his passion for data security and privacy to the mortgage industry with Real Estate Data Shield.
Chris has served on the Board of Directors and on Executive Boards of leading mortgage industry associations. He is a frequent speaker at industry conventions on topics essential to the Title and Settlement industry.
Chris began his legal career in the real estate departments at leading New York City law firms. His articles have been featured in industry publications as well as in legal publications including the New York Law Journal and the National Law Journal. He has served on the Faculty for Continuing Legal Education of Fordham Law School, Pace Law School, and the Bar Associations of New York City and New York State. CHRISTOPHER C. ANDERSON (KIT)
Kit Anderson is a Vice President and State Underwriting Counsel for Chicago Title in the Winston- Salem office. He received his undergraduate degree in 1999 from Wake Forest University, Winston- Salem, North Carolina and his JD from the University of Georgia School of Law, Athens, Georgia, where he became a published writer and graduated cum laude in 2004. Kit’s prior experience in private practice with a law firm in the Charlotte area had a concentration in the areas of residential and commercial real estate. He has been a member of the North Carolina State Bar since 2004 and with Chicago Title since 2006.
NANCY SHORT FERGUSON
Nancy Ferguson is a Vice President and Senior State Underwriting Counsel for Chicago Title in the Greensboro office, with a focus on Claims Management. She is also NC State Counsel for the Fidelity National Title Group. Nancy received her undergraduate degree in 1980 and her JD degree in 1983 from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, North Carolina and her Masters in Business Administration in 1996 from Wake Forest University, Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She is a North Carolina State Bar Certified Specialist in Real Property Law: Business, Commercial, Industrial and Residential. Her experience includes private practice in various capacities and the title insurance industry. She has served as officer and on multiple committees of the Real Property Section of the North Carolina Bar Association, as President of the North Carolina Land Title Association, President of the Greensboro Bar Association, Chair of the Greensboro Bar Association Real Property Section, as 18th Judicial District Councillor of the North Carolina State Bar, a member of the Real Property Law committee of the North Carolina State Bar Board of Legal Specialization and is a member of the American College of Real Estate Attorneys (ACREL) and the American College of Mortgage Attorneys (ACMA). She is a frequent presenter at CLE seminars and has published articles on various real estate topics for many organizations. She is North Carolina co-editor of the ALTA Title Insurance Regulatory Survey. Nancy is a co-author of North Carolina Real Estate, With Forms 3d Edition (Thomson-Reuters, West Publishing).
JEFFREY I. HRDLICKA
Jeff Hrdlicka is a Vice President and Regional Counsel for the Fidelity National Title Group for the states of North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia. He received his undergraduate degree in 1988 and his JD in 1991 from Wake Forest University, Winston-Salem, North Carolina. His experience includes private practice with a concentration in real estate and construction related civil litigation. He is past president of the North Carolina Land Title Association and the Real Property Section of the Greensboro Bar Association. He also served on the Real Property Section Council and Real Property Curriculum Committee of the North Carolina Bar Association. He is a frequent speaker at seminars regarding title insurance matters. M. SCOTT MANSFIELD
Scott Mansfield is a Vice President and State Underwriting Counsel for Chicago Title in the Charlotte office, with a focus on commercial and residential business development. He also manages the Charlotte National Commercial Center, coordinating title insurance on transactions outside of North Carolina. He received his undergraduate degree in 1994 from Dartmouth College and his JD in 1998 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Scott has been with Chicago Title since 2002.
DAVID P. MILLING, JR.
David Milling joined Chicago Title in 2011 and is Vice President and State Underwriting Counsel in the Charlotte office. David’s prior experience in private practice includes a concentration in commercial real estate development and finance transactions. He received his undergraduate degree in 1998 from New York University and his JD from Tulane University Law School in 2007. He has been a member of the North Carolina State Bar since 2007.
JAMES W. WILLIAMS, III
Jay Williams is a Vice President and State Underwriting Counsel for Chicago Title in the Raleigh, NC, office. Mr. Williams received his BA in 1988 from Westminster College, Fulton, Missouri and his JD with Certification in Resources, Energy and Environmental Law in 1995 from the University Of Tulsa College Of Law, Tulsa, Oklahoma. He is a Board Certified Specialist in Residential and Commercial Transactions and his experience includes private practice with a concentration in real estate. He is currently serving as President of the NC Land Title Association and is a member of the Wake County Bar Association. Prior to relocating to Raleigh in 2010, he served as chairman of the New Hanover County Planning Board and as vice-president of the board of the Cape Fear Housing Land Trust. He has previously served on the Real Property Section Council of the North Carolina Bar Association, as President of the New Hanover County Real Property Section, as president of the Board of Directors of Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity and on the board of Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCare Center.
