FFA GOAT/LAMB SHOW TEAM
Membership on the WISD show team is considered a privilege; therefore the following rules must be followed.
Rules, Responsibilities, and Expectations
Advisor: As your advisors, we are dedicated to your success, the success of the livestock team, and the welfare of the animals that represent our team. As your advisors, we will: ● Lead the selection & purchasing process for student animal projects. ● Provide advice on feeding, grooming, equipments, and necessary purchases. ● Provide instruction and recommendations to help students properly groom animals for show, train their animals prior to show, teach animal anatomy and facts necessary for showmanship and exhibit their animals successfully in the show ring. ● Provide students with entry form for all school sponsored livestock shows. ● Inform students of validation dates for school sponsored shows.
The WISD Ag Science teachers reserve the right to dismiss any student from the Livestock Show Team on a per show basis based on eligibility, behavior, or improper care of an animal.
Students: As members of the WISD FFA Livestock Show Team, students will conduct themselves in a way that brings pride to our team: ● Treat animals ethically at all times. ● Submit entry forms fo shows by the due date set by the FFA advisor. ● Read and follow all show rules and regulations for each show in which you compete. ● Follow all school student rules at all FFA show team events, including, anytime a student exhibits their animal as a representative of WISD FFA. ● Follow all rules and regulations as set forth in this contract and barn rules. ● Work with fellow team members and advisors to maintain cleanliness in the trailers, barns, and other work areas, as well as, attend any barn cleanups that are scheduled throughout the year. ● While at the show, arrive on time to scheduled feedings and team meetings, remain in the areas designated by the advisors, and leave only when dismissed by the FFA advisor. ● Follow all instructions from WISD FFA advisor(s), show coordinator, or judge(s) while at a livestock show. ● Refrain from cursing, arguing, and horseplay in the barns and show ring. ● Wear appropriate clothing at all times while representing the show team at livestock shows and events. ● Wear appropriate show clothing including: PRESSED jeans that are also in good condition, collared shirts and appropriate footwear. (if you have any questions regarding clothing please see Mrs. Seal) ● Assist fellow show team members before, during, and after the show. ● Remain eligible with school to participate in extracurricular activities (grades, attendance, behavior) ● Obtain the necessary supplies needed to own and show your animal (see supplies) ● Display a positive attitude and good sportsmanship AT ALL TIMES while representing WISD FFA Livestock Show Team. Other Key Rules and Responsibilities
1. Students are responsible for caring for and monitoring their show animals on a daily basis. 2. Advisors have the right to deny a student’s participation in FFA livestock shows if the animal is obviously underweight or underfed, in poor health, poor physical and/or mental condition, or any other condition that may diminishes their show appeal. 3. Parents/students may be asked to leave school or county property or any FFA sponsored event for misconduct, aggressive or disrespectful behavior towards advisor(s), parents, or for any behavior that brings discredit to our organization. 4. Students who choose to attend livestock shows outside of the designated school shows must still follow all school, FFA, and show team guidelines as they still represent our organization. 5. In order to ensure quality across our WISD FFA Goat/Lamb Show Team, all students will have their goat(s)/lamb(s) clipped during times scheduled by the FFA advisor. If you are unable to attend or would like to clip your own, you must make arrangements with your FFA advisor. Students WILL NOT be allowed to clip unsupervised without prior permission from the FFA advisor. 6. Any decisions or instructions made by the FFA advisor at a school sponsored show are final. Any discussion can be directed to the FFA advisor or school administrators at a later date. 7. Attend all scheduled meetings. 8. Subscribe to the species Remind 101’s. By working together as a team, caring for the health and welfare of your animal(s), and dedicating your time to practicing, studying, and grooming for exhibitions, the WISD FFA Livestock Show Team is sure to have a smooth and successful year.

● State Fair of Texas ● Heart Of Texas Fair ● West Texas Fair ● Four States Fair ● Fort Worth Stock Show ● San Antonio Stock Show ● Houston Stock Show ● San Angelo Stock Show ● Austin Stock Show ● Parker County Stock Show All entries will be filled out and returned to the FFA advisors for entry. You may attend Jackpots. Dates will be posted as they come in.
Expectation While at the Show
● Feeding will take place at designated times for all lambs/goats unless instructed otherwise by your advisor. ● Be on time to feedings ● During show days, no students are allowed to leave the show barn without permission ● During feeding times: ○ Before feeding, your animal must be weighed, check with advisor for instructions about the amount to be fed as they may change depending on the condition of your lamb or goat. ○ Help with cleaning the area as directed by the advisor ○ During morning feeding, pens will be cleaned and shaving replaced as needed. ○ No student may leave during a feeding without checking out with an advisor. ● Before washing your lamb/goat, check with your advisor for special instructions. ● If you have a question or issue please contact your advisor. DO NOT take it upon yourself to solve a dispute or make assumptions. Goat/Lamb Show Team Supplies
● Clip on feed pan ● 1 bag of pine shaving for each show (2 if possible) ● Show Chain (no plastic chains) (goats only) ● Rope Halter Muzzle ● Tube and/or coat ● Shampoo and towels ● No water buckets (a few will be packed for the group) ● No personal show boxes (unless discussed with the advisor) ● No water hoses (we will take 1-2 to share)
Items Needed at Time of Purchase
● Rope halter ● Feed pan ● Water Trough ● Feed ● Shavings ● Shampoo ● Lots of patience, you will need to be at the barn EVERY day to work you animal.

I understand that failure to follow these guidelines may result in disciplinary actions as deemed necessary by the FFA advisors and WISD Administration.
