2014 Talk Points “Long List” for Matthew Stein

1. Do you think the worst of the financial crisis is over, or is it yet to come?

2. What kinds of skills should I have that could help me survive a full-blown economic collapse?

3. What about trade and barter? Are there any specific types of items that would be particularly valuable in a barter system if the financial meltdown gets worse?

4. I understand that your wife recently passed from cancer (died on Dec 22, 2013 due to multiple myeloma blood/ bone cancer). You are such a proponent of alternative healing techniques. Why do you think you could not save her? If you had the opportunity to do this over, what would you have done differently?

5. In your search for alternative treatments to help your wife battle cancer, what treatments did you feel offered the greatest hope for healing the late stage advanced cancer that your wife was suffering from?

6. I understand that you chose to start out with traditional chemotherapy and radiation treatments, hoping to switch to alternative treatments at a later date. Why did you make that choice? Was it a difficult decision?

7. You state that going through a year and a half of service and support while your wife struggled with cancer has brought you to a new level spiritually and emotionally. Could you elaborate on that statement?

8. Your wife was a gifted hypnotherapist who often helped people heal issues in their current lives by taking them to past lives, and the in-between-life state to better comprehend their current situations from a soul perspective. How has she :visited" yourself and others after her passing, and what wisdom has she been able to bring forth from "the other side"?

9. How is When Disaster Strikes different from When Technology Fails?

10. You recently published your first illustrated children’s book, called “Geronimo the Frog”. A children’s book is a far stretch from writing about emergency prepping, survival and sustainability—what made you write Geronimo?

11. I hear there is a very intriguing “back story” behind the writing of Geronimo—could you tell us something about this?

12. I have heard a lot about EMP, and it has me really scared. How bad is the terrorist threat of EMP?

13. What is the difference between the effects of a devastating EMP strike and a Super Solar Storm?

14. If I come to the realization that my area has been hit hard by an EMP event, or a super solar storm, what should I do? How could I plan ahead to cope with such an event?

15. There are something like 104 nuclear reactors in the USA. What should I do if one of these reactors were to be blown up by a terrorist, or if a meltdown were to occur, along the lines of what happened in Chernobyl or Fukushima?

16. Is it true that in a prolonged grid-down situation, such as from an EMP or extreme solar storm, it is almost certain to cause multiple Fukushima-like events across America?

17. If so, is there a way to prevent such nuclear catastrophes from occurring in the event of an EMP or super solar storm, and why is our government not doing anything about this?

18. Why did you write When Technology Fails, and what does this have to do with your vision of the future?

19. I understand that you have identified six trends, each of which are potential civilization busters, and that these trends may be forming into the “Perfect Storm” for collapse. What are these six trends, and do you think we have a chance for avoiding long term collapse of the world as we know it?

20. Every time a natural disaster is on the horizon, like a huge blizzard or a major hurricane, the so-called “experts” on the radio and TV tell us what they think we need to do to be prepared, yet people always find themselves grossly unprepared. What things are they not telling us that we need to know, and what are some of the most important things in your 72-hour survival kit that are lacking in what these “experts” recommend?

21. Five acres of land and an off grid home sound like the way to go, but quite frankly they are out of reach for most of us who are living from paycheck to paycheck. Are those of us without extra cash just SOL or is there hope? What can we do to prepare? (NOTE: there is a lot of truth in the saying that the crash is much harder for those living at the top than those who have just a short distance to fall)

22. How can I disinfect “ditch water” using just sunshine or simple household chemicals?

23. When push comes to shove, what are the best bugs to eat? Please pass the maggots!

24. Mankind has been around for hundreds of thousands of years, so how could things on our planet turn critical so quickly?

25. In the second chapter of When Technology Fails, you include an interesting list of the impacts of various historical disasters, both natural and man-made. What does this tell us about where our greatest concerns should lie?

26. What is a “Grab-and-Run Kit” (also known as 72-hour kits, short-term emergency kit, etc.) and why should I have one? What are the key items in your grab and run kit? (NOTE: there are well over 20 items in my kit. For a full list see either of my books, or my web site)

27. What are the most important emergency supplies to have on hand?

28. Why should I have a family emergency plan and what kind of things should it cover?

29. What is a “Survivor Personality” and how might I build/strengthen my own Survivor Personality to improve my chances for surviving the coming times?

30. What is the “Pit of the Stomach exercise”, and how could it save my life in a crisis situation?

31. From looking at your list of natural and manmade disasters, it appears that pandemics and plagues have been the biggest killers of all time. Do you have any suggestions for how the average American could prepare himself for a “Pandemic” from an emerging virus, or an antibiotic resistant bacteria, like Drug-Resistant TB, Methicillin resistant staph (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, also known as M.R.S.A.), Bird Flu or Ebola?

32. Do you have suggestions for materials and supplies that people should have on hand in case traditional medicines are unavailable or simply don’t work against a disease that is “going around”? Why do you recommend “The Shotgun Approach?”

33. I understand that you have had your own personal encounter with antibiotic resistant bacteria that would not respond to modern antibiotics, including the infamous “Cipro”. Could you relate your experiences, and how you cured this infection with a few dollars worth of materials after spending over a thousand dollars on antibiotics and doctors?

34. What is The Beck Protocol? Is it true that Naturopathic Doctors are using the Beck Protocol combined with Hulda Clark’s herbal parasite and toxin cleanses to heal chronic illnesses like AIDS, stage 4 & 5 cancers, Hepatitis C, and Diabetes?

35. If these healing protocols work so well, why are they not used by doctors all over the world?

36. Now that the price of gas has come down, does this mean that “Peak Oil” is a load of hogwash?

37. The IEA (International Energy Association) released its 2008 report on the status of the world’s oil fields, doubling their 2007 estimated average rate for the world’s oil field depletion. How does the current credit crisis play into this and what does this mean for the future of our world?

38. Why does the solution to America’s economic woes lie not in pumping more oil, but in getting off the oil habit? (HINT: We’ve been sending a freight train full of dollars out of America every day in the form of $1.5 billion a day to buy foreign oil and another $1/2 billion every day for military protection and intervention in the Persian Gulf to insure that this oil keeps flowing)

39. Why will continuing an unregulated “Free Market” economic policy guarantee the collapse of our world as we know it?

40. You speak about action on the personal level, community level and the global level (Micro, Middle, and Macro). What are some of the kinds of things we can do on the community level?

41. Is community important or do you think that the heavily armed lone wolf stands the best chances for survival?

42. A lot of what you talk about seems pretty bleak, but you actually seem like a fairly happy and upbeat person. What is your secret? Do you have a positive vision for a future that avoids the apocalypse?

43. What are your 10 key strategies to creating a sustainable world and saving the Earth?

44. What can I personally do to help reduce my impact on the planet, and to live more self reliantly and more sustainably?
