No School – Monday, September 2

According to the Washington Post, Labor Day is the perfect day to explain to kids who are complaining about going to school just how much worse things could be for them. Years ago, kids were forced into back-breaking jobs day and night in mines, textiles, glass factories, canneries and other places where children don’t belong. Labor activists eventually ended child labor and won better working conditions for adult workers. Today, many people do not know what Labor Day is intended to honor. On the first Monday in September, Labor Day honors the contributions that the American worker has made to the growth and prosperity of our country. Our school has made the commitment to prepare each and every student to be college and career ready when graduating from Gallatin County High School. We wish success for every student and desire for them to make our world a better place. Meeting Dates Please take note that our September meetings are on two different dates for this month only. These meetings will be held at the Family Resource Center, located in Room 116 of the Upper Elementary School. When attending the meeting, please enter the front door and check in at the office. We appreciate you cooperation in this matter.

The clothes will be displayed at the west end of the Upper Elementary building. If it rains the clothes will be in the Family Resource Center. All families are welcome to come and receive clothes for their children. Have you hugged your kids today?

Grades 3-5 will celebrate our Constitution during the week of September 16-20. Each day the students and teachers will watch a short video clip and will be expected to listen carefully because they will be asked a question from the clip. Each day, Ms. Oldendick will draw a winner from each grade and a prize will be awarded.
