Insight Santa Cruz Update News of Our Sangha

“The Buddha said that no true spiritual life is possible without a generous heart. Generosity allies itself with an inner feeling of abundance—the feeling that we have enough to share.” —Buddhist teacher Sharon Salzberg OUR CENTER RUNS ENTIRELY ON THE PRACTICE OF GENEROSITY: Teachings at Insight Santa Cruz are offered freely to all who are interested, continuing a 2,500-year old Buddhist tradition. Financial support for ISC (called “dana,” meaning “giving”) comes from the generosity of people who value what we do. The donations we receive go to support our physical location, website, and other expenses. ISC has no paid staff—it is run by volunteers. Our teachers are supported by teacher dana. We are deeply inspired by the generosity that has allowed our center to grow into its current form over more than two decades. You can donate online here or at the center using the dana baskets pictured below. NEWS FROM THE ISC BOARD: The ISC board has nominated two new potential board members and according to our bylaws they need to be "seasoned.” Being seasoned means that if anyone in the ISC community has concerns about these nominations they should please contact Guiding Teacher Bob Stahl or ISC President Linda Kittle by August 17.

The nominations are: 1). Yasmina Porter 2). Kevin Newhouse

UPDATE ON WALKWAY AND LIGHTS: We are continuing to work with the Galleria to ensure that both the construction on the walkway near the main entrance as well as the lights in the meditation hall shutting off unexpectedly are resolved as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience.

VOICES FROM THE SANGHA: We always welcome your thoughts, suggestions, concerns, compliments, and ideas for Insight Santa Cruz. You can let us know through the online “Comment Box” found on our website’s homepage or the physical Comment Box in the entry area. Comment forms are available in both English and Spanish. For English click here and for Spanish click here.

VOLUNTEERING: Our Sangha operates completely on the generosity that all of us offer. There are many ways to help. In particular, we invite anyone who is interested to help with opening/closing events (we will provide a brief training for you).
