The elevator constructor has to install, replace elevators and related equipment. They work in both new and old constructions and need constant upgrading of the equipments to meet current building codes. The person should be very skillful and with in-depth knowledge in electricity and electronics to perform their task more efficiently.

Elevator Constructor Duties and Responsibilities

Here are the following duties and responsibilities which an elevator constructor ahs to fulfill as follows:

 The elevator constructor has firstly the duty to read and understand the blueprints and the graphics.

 He or she has to choose the necessary equipments needed for the motors, machinery and all other necessary components that are required for the installation of the elevator.

 He or she needs to do the bolting and welding of the elevator’s rails so that it can reach the shaft of the interior walls.

 The constructor has the responsibility to control the elevators as well and tubing down the walls of the shaft, installing the electrical parts.

 He or she needs to be ensuring about the repairing work as well so needs to send a service team in order to carry out the repair works.

 He or she has the responsibility to adjust and install the elevators efficiently to make sure that the elevator works properly.

 It will be needed to set the timing as well to stop in the correct position on each level of the building in accordance to the timing.

Elevator Constructor Skills and Specifications

The following required skills and specifications are as follows:

 The person should have very good knowledge of science and drawings and the related field as well.  The person should have the ability to work with different building materials and machines

 He or she should have necessary required knowledge of physics and its application to elevators.

 The person should be aware of advanced skills such as wiring.

 The person should have the required knowledge of technology related to elevators and able to operate them as well.

Elevator Constructor Education and Qualifications

 The person needs to have a High school education where courses on math, technical drawing, science are taught should be attended.

 The other requirement for the job is the training if formal education had not been attained earlier.

The salary basically depends upon the state, the industry where he or she is working in.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median annual wage for elevator constructors is something around $33.50.
