Call for Poster Abstracts Innovative Strategies for Addressing Sexual Health Disparities Friday, April 28, 2017 Morehouse School of Medicine, Atlanta, GA, USA

The Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality and the Center of Excellence for Sexual Health in the Satcher Health Leadership Institute at Morehouse School of Medicine are seeking abstracts for poster presentations held during the sexual health symposium, Innovative Strategies for Addressing Sexual Health Disparities on Friday, April 28, 2017. The poster sessions seek to provide opportunities to share completed work as well as work in progress related to innovative strategies for addressing sexual health disparities.

Abstracts are due no later than February 28, 2017.

This call for abstracts is a poster only call. Poster sessions will be held at a special time during the symposium that is designed to facilitate networking, and the dissemination of recent work. Empirical work, lessons learned, theoretical perspectives, and other forms of sexual science are welcome and encouraged. Work in progress for which one is seeking feedback and guidance or feedback from colleagues is most welcome.

Requirements

 Presenting authors must register for the symposium.  Posters must be formatted according to the guidelines that will be sent to all authors, and must be in the English language.  The Symposium Program will be posted on the SSSS website. SSSS will make all program abstracts public on its website, and authors must agree to such publication upon submission.  Author contact information will be made available to all participants at the symposium.

REQUIRED FORMAT FOR ALL ABSTRACTS

All abstracts must be submitted to [email protected] by February 28, 2017. Notifications of the acceptance of the poster abstract will be sent to the lead author by March 15, 2017.

Abstracts should not exceed 300 words and must conform to the structure provided below based upon the type of abstract (Empirical Reports, Lessons Learned, Theoretical Perspectives). Regardless of type, the abstract must include all required areas and sufficient detail within each area for peer review. Abstracts may be submitted in the following categories and must conform to the required format:

a. Empirical Reports (for abstracts that provide details of empirical research completed or in progress). Abstracts must be formatted using the subheadings of: Background/Rationale, Methods/Planned Approach, Results/Preliminary Results, and Conclusions/Next Steps. b. Lessons Learned (for abstracts that describe the outcomes or insights gained from interventions, partnerships, or other programs). Abstracts must be formatted using the subheadings of: Background, Program Description, Lessons Learned, Recommendations. c. Theoretical Perspectives (for abstracts that provide an overview or analysis of emerging or established theoretical or conceptual perspectives on a sexuality-related issue or phenomenon). Abstracts must be formatted using the subheadings of: Background, Theoretical Perspective, and Significance to the Field.
