 Housing is dormitory style. Do you have any sleep conditions that might make it difficult to share a room with others? What is your experience in communal living?

 Meals are vegetarian and a vegan alternative is generally offered. Do you have any food allergies or other food concerns that would require special attention by the kitchen?

4 Student applic – Rev 8/08 Daily Schedules for Apprentices Monday through Thursday 5:00 am Zazen (sitting meditation) 5:40 Kinhin (walking meditation) 5:50 Zazen 6:30 Morning Service 7:00 Soji (temple cleaning) 7:20 Breakfast In addition to the daily schedule, students attend Dharma talks 8:20 Work Meeting/ Work on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings and take 12:15 pm Lunch one class which meets for 1 ½ hours once a week for 1:15 Work six week periods. 4:15 End Work 5:15 Zazen (except Thurs) Apprentices are expected to attend morning and 5:50 Evening Service (except Thurs) afternoon zazen, Monday through Thursday and Sunday 6:00 Dinner morning zazen. There is no zazen on Friday morning and Saturday is the usual day off. Friday when harvesting for market 6:30 am Work for apprentices There are two interim periods during the growing season 7:45 Breakfast when we rise later, sit one period of zazen, and do not 8:45 Work have classes and lectures. On Wednesday mornings, Noon: Bag lunch beginning in June, in place of the 5:50 a.m. period of 3 p.m. End work zazen, we all join in silent communal work in the fields.

Saturday When Friday early morning work begins in the fields in Day off or Farmers’ Market June, farm apprentices are not expected to go to Sunday morning zazen. Some farm duties start at 6:30 a.m. Sunday (during service) on other days and are rotated among the 5:50 am Zazen apprentices and staff. 6:30 Service 7:00 Soji 7:20 Breakfast 10:15 Public Lecture 11:30 Question & Answer (optional)
