VETERAN HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA

Mr. Harold Joseph Pike left Turkey Foot Middle School to serve his country. The Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs has made it possible for schools and school boards to not only thank veterans for their service but to bestow something very precious to veterans - a high school diploma. It is our great pleasure to present a Dixie Heights High School diploma to Mr. Pike.

NICHOLAS GREEN AWARD NOMINEE

Sabrina Collins, Twenhofel Middle School student, was nominated for the Nicholas Green Award sponsored by the National Association for Gifted Children. She is an excellent student, gifted in the arts, and dedicated to community service. Her nomination brought distinction to her school and the district. Sabrina, the Board of Education congratulates you on your nomination and wishes you well on all future endeavors.

WHAT OUTSTANDING WORK AWARDS

Courtney Hertsenberg, James A. Caywood Teacher Nominated by a colleague

Courtney goes above and beyond with students. She impacts student learning and self esteem. She brings out the best in the students and makes them believe in themselves academically and socially. Her ability to instill confidence in children is a gift. I feel very fortunate and privileged to work with Courtney.

Pam Overby Fields, James A. Caywood Teacher Assistant

Nominated by a colleague

Mrs. O has been an absolute gift this year. She chimes in during teachable moments, and provides situations and stories from her personal life that interest the students. My class respects her implicitly and she can command their attention, too. I feel very fortunate and privileged to work with Mrs. O.

Mary Voelker, Kelly Dolwick, Lee Anne Ryan, and Becky Darnell, Crisis Team Members Nominated by a colleague

I I would like to nominate the following Crisis Team Members, Mary Voelker, Kelly Dolwick, Lee Anne Ryan, and Becky Darnell, for their assistance at Taylor Mill Elementary in the recent passing of a colleague. They provided listening ears, loving support, and guidance for our children in a confusing and difficult time.

Steve Reynolds, Bus Driver Nominated by a colleague

Mr. Reynolds demonstrates that he cares about the kids on his bus in numerous ways. He also shows the children that he values their education.

Melinda Boesken, River Ridge Teacher Nominated by a colleague

Melinda demonstrates a zest for using technology, and differentiating instruction that allows her students to experience engaging, innovative lessons to improve learning. As a veteran teacher, she has embraced the new available technology, which results in effective learning opportunities for her students.

Tina Holliday, Dixie Heights High School Teacher Nominated by a parent

Tina Holliday is an amazing teacher. There are no yawns in this class….as history comes to life through interesting hands-on projects and class debates. She harnesses the student’s higher-level thinking skills to discover the content’s relevance for them. Most importantly, she motivates the students to succeed through her positive rapport with them….her students appreciate and respect her because she is extremely kind, caring and encouraging. Students care how much Tina Holliday knows because they know how much she cares!
