Christmas Sparkle Day

We look forward to Christmas Sparkle Day tomorrow when we hope that as many parents/extended family will join the children in their craft activities. We invite children (and adults) to come to school dressed in red, white or green (or a combination of the 3) and/or something sparkly. We shall open the gates at 1.10 p.m. when you can go straight to the children`s classroom and get “stuck in”!

After school we are having the “switch on” of the lights in the tree at the front of school. The children will go in their classes into the garden to watch and to sing a few Christmas songs. It will be over by roughly 4 p.m. so please stay for this. It would be lovely if all children could stay, but if you need to pick up your child at 3.30 p.m., please let their class teacher know.

The lists for donations for the FOBS Christmas Hamper Raffle are on the classroom doors so if you are able to provide an item please put your name on the list. Raffle tickets will be on sale very soon. Thank you.

Please remember - there are no after school clubs tomorrow.

Governing Body

You will be aware that we have been working towards appointing two new parent governors, and we are very pleased to welcome Mrs Caroline Mills (Mum to Evie in Mrs Firth`s class) and Mr Kevin Burley (Dad to Freddie, again in Mrs Firth`s class). We would like to thank them for joining the school`s Governing Body and hope that they will find their time rewarding and interesting.

Golden Book

Well done to our “Golden Book” children this week who are:

Class 1 Elijah Hunter and Alex Robinson Class 2 Flynn Rook and Niamh Heeley Class 3 Gabrielle Lannon and Eleanor Leighton Class 4 Jacob and Luke O`Donnell

Sponsored Read

Our Sponsored Read in conjunction with Usborne books to raise money for restocking the school library has now been completed. We are absolutely delighted with the total of £499.20 which has been raised – thank you so very much to those families who took part.

We have really appreciated your support in this, as Usborne have said that they will match whatever we raise to enable us to buy new stock. Christmas Fair

Arrangements for the FOBS Christmas Fair on Tuesday 12th December in the Village Hall are well in hand. We shall be having our usual “water or wine” table and would be very grateful of your empty screw top wine bottles, complete with cap. Please give these to the school office staff. Thank you.

The plastic cups for the lucky dip were given out to the children today.

After School Clubs

As mentioned earlier in this newsletter, there are no after school clubs tomorrow.

Just to confirm – our Dance club has two more Monday sessions to run, and Lego and Multisports clubs also have two sessions remaining – 8th and 15th December. Baking club has its last session on Tuesday next week. The fortnightly Badminton club for our older children runs tonight and then once more on 14th December.

Glee Club will continue to run as normal until the last week of term when there will be no session.

School Lunches

Slips have been sent home with the children usually bringing a packed lunch to ask them if they would like to have a Christmas lunch on 15th December. Please return these promptly -with payment if children are in years LFS and 3 to 6 - so that we can notify the kitchen. The menu will be a choice of either a traditional roast turkey lunch or cheese and tomato puffs.

Miss Kaye has asked that we let parents know of a change in the menu for two days next week. On Wednesday 6th the choices will be shepherd`s pie, pasta margherita, jacket potato with tuna and mayo or cheese sandwich. Thursday`s choice will be meatballs and Yorkshire pudding, cheese and tomato pasta, jacket potato with cheese and beans or egg mayo sandwich.

Posada

Leonard Bartle, from The Church in West Bretton has asked if any of our families would like to have the “Posada” figures for one night. For those not familiar with Posada, the figures of Mary and Joseph travel from home to home or place to place during the days leading up to Christmas. If you are interested please contact Leonard on 01924 830220.

And finally ………

We have been asked to let you know of Wakefield Rotary Club`s Charity Christmas Post. There are details in the school notice board by the gate about where you can post your cards and which areas are covered for delivery.
