Anne Started Clogging Approximately 29 Years Ago

Anne Mills Anne grew up in Washington State with a ‘love for dance’ starting with Tap, Ballet, Jazz and Acrobatic dancing. She actively pursued a dancing career for 17 years as a professional ballroom instructor and national adjudicator for Arthur Murray and Fred Astaire Dance Studios.

She began clogging in 1984 and started teaching soon after beginner’s class. Since 1995, Anne has traveled to Arizona during the winter months to provide the clogging program for the snowbirds in numerous RV resorts.

Anne has held a workshop at Circle 8 in Cle Elum over Memorial weekend since 1991 and will be celebrating her 23rd year in 2012. This weekend is packed full of dancing (20+hours of clogging, 12+ new routines, and line dancing) fun (games, a bonfire if weather permits and a pajama party on Sunday), good food (potluck dinner Saturday night at the hall, smores Saturday night either at the bonfire or made in the oven in the hall if weather is inclement, pancake breakfast Sunday morning) and great company, meeting friends and making new ones. Saturday & Sunday nights are filled with cued clog dances that feature local instructors doing a variety of dances for all levels of clogging. There’s something for everyone, including non-clogging friends and family members. Anne’s unique teaching style, outgoing personality, patience, and ability to break down steps into teachable sequences so everyone can learn, keeps people coming back from year to year……This all adds up to a weekend that is guaranteed to leave you feeling inspired, happy and with feet and a body that have had a wonderful workout! What more could you ask for!!!

Anne achieved national recognition in 1993; on staff at seven National Clogging Conventions. In addition, she has taught at numerous National Square Dance Conventions including upcoming 2012 in Spokane plus Canadian National Festivals.

She celebrated 25 years of her “Kick-Off” workshop this year held every year on Labor Day weekend in Tacoma, WA. This workshop features 12 instructors, 3 halls and new routines to fit every level of clogging.

Anne symbolizes a positive role model. She is an outstanding instructor who loves the clogging activity; the camaraderie it creates, the chance to meet people eager to learn and enjoy the art of clogging and to observe the progress of each student….Anne is a true & dedicated mentor of clogging!
