5 ‘Any Other Comments

Note: All comments listed as written (best interpretation). Comments from other parts of the form are included (Not everyone constrained themselves to the areas indicated!)

Less money spent on provision of football facilities, to either save money or provide upgrade to existing facilities. Recent figures show that a huge sum of money is spent on football facilities and very little recouped from fees.

Multi use games area on Elms Park or Sellors Playing Field.

We really need more sports amenities in Ruddington. Why not convert the dusty car park in Elms Park into two hard court tennis courts? Much more sporting facilities required for the space. Set-up of children’s cricket – why not link in to Trent Bridge for this?

Not sure where everything is yet.

A really good, modern all-purpose village hall such as Grange Hall R-O-T or Kinoulton village hall. Ruddington’s village hall is out dated and not fit for purpose.

The cycle provision leaves a LOT to be desired. There should be a 20MPH speed limit on the roads through the village.

Not qualified to answer.

The facilities do not meet my needs as most of my family. They are old fashioned and poorly maintained. The sports pitches cater for a minority, but indoor sports and recreational activities are not possible other than at Jubilee.

More village events which are better publicised to find out more about what is happening in the village. A chance for local businesses to promote themselves to encourage us to shop local.

More chances for people to get together – meetings/community get-togethers.

Dance classes for older people in evening. Drop in computer classes for particular things we wish to learn rather than courses. Any room for a boules pitch? Table tennis set up in pavilions or halls. Indoor bowls for winter. What about a couple of cricket nets for the boys or basketball nets? There used to be some tennis nets up for people to play after the courts went. Could they be installed on the surrounds of the football pitches?

Children’s play equipment on unused green area between St Mary’s Crescent, Ling Crescent and Packman Drive. We drive to Rushcliffe or Elms Park because my kids (age 2 and 5) can’t walk to a play area that easily.

The Sellors playing field improved.

6 I would like to see the facilities at the Wilford road/Brookside Road park improved. A new children’s play area and maybe a gym located there with a sports hall.

Improvements to the children’s play area on Wilford Road! I live on Woodhouse gardens and often visit my mother on Rufford Road and there are NO children’s play areas on this side of the village!!!

What is here is ok, but we need to leave Ruddington to do everything we like.

Yes, although indoor soft play would be ace for the kids.

It’s not bad – always room for improvement. Although a swimming pool would be nice. We like being members of Roko. We are retired/comfortably with transport plus free bus travel. *But for children its not easy to get to a pool as it costs! Both to get to a facility and for the use of. * Cotgrave, East Leake, Keyworth, Bingham and West Bridgford all have pools and sports facilities.

I recall there was once a thriving athletics club. It would be great to see a revival.

If and when finances permit – a multi sports all weather training facility would be fantastic.

Would love a swimming pool in Ruddington! Also an indoor play area like “Denz” in Beeston would be excellent for this village (with café area).

An indoor swimming pool.

Do not use.

Something other than sport.

Tennis courts, pool (outdoor & indoor), paddling pool for children.

Classical music.

Leisure centre in Ruddington.

Sports limited.

Indoor soft play for kids, multi sports weekend, kids sessions, badminton courts.

Another play area close to Ashworth Avenue.

Swimming pool.

Swimming facility.

I live on Brookside road and have to use vicarage lane/elms park or the country park for playground facilities.

PUBLIC TOILET!! Indoor sports hall.

7 Yes – except no swimming pool. Rushcliffe. Cannot get a good swim.

Could do with a new sports facility building or alternatively modernise both the village hall & especially the hall by the green.

Yes for me personally but younger families may require more facilities. ie tennis courts, roller skating rink.

Sure start centre would have been good. It seems that all eyes are on West Bridgford for this.

5 aside football, tennis court, modern community centre.

Tennis courts accessible indoor facilities.

Village Hall in bad state of repair. We need a new facility which will suit all ages groups.

All for those much younger than I.

Leisure centre.

Modern facilities. All present facilities outdated. Need village facility for indoor and outdoor sports and social events.

Tennis courts.

Tennis court, gym.

Need outdoor games area. (tennis, 5-aside, basketball) More facilities for the older person to attend.

Need facility for indoor sport or outdoor sport for 5 aside football, tennis.

Only pitches available for football. No 5 aside. No tennis court available. Need an outdoor all weather surface for sport.

Multi use games area.

A public toilet open when St Peters room’s closes.

Leisure centre being built due to the oversized of the village, the mix age groups and for health reason due to ageing population it would benefit everyone.

The park St Mary’s Crescent. Nothing but a glorified dog toilet. Some play things for children. We have been in this house 59 years. Born & bred in the village.

I think there’s a good mix for families, and for those who are more specific or who want facilities which cost more to maintain, there are many leisure centres within easy reach of Ruddington. I don’t want a swimming pool here it would be a duplication of local resources. I go to Roko>Rushcliffe because I can’t access

8 Rushcliffe in the day (school) and the evening sessions are (or were when I stopped going) so busy for me to swim fast.

Swimming pool would be great! Sometimes I don’t use facilities because the thing I want to do isn’t on a night when I can access it.

No. Tennis and badminton courts.

Modern, safe.

Too early to say.

More choice of fitness classes on all days of the week.

Gym/swimming pool if possible.

Multi use games area. We are the only village without one. E.g. Cotgrave, East Leake and Keyworth.

Multi- purpose building.

My son says we need a gym, motocross track, also tennis courts. Children (teenagers get bored then destructive)

However it would be nice to have some amenities available in which the whole family can participate.

Multi use games area.

The recent imposition of the “dogs on leads” notices (with consultation/notice) should be withdrawn. Responsible dog owners don’t need to be told to keep their dogs under control, irresponsible ones will ignore. Dog ownership (& its related walking) is an under-rated healthy activity – better pathways (eg like Elms Park) would help, especially older residents.

The travelling shows, plays, concerts etc. etc. like other villages especially in Leicestershire where we frequently go.

Everyone involved. Inclusive website abilities.

Wilford Road is just for dogs. It needs play equipment for that end of the village.

Coffee mornings for retired people.

Tennis courts, swimming pool. A good village hall like Keyworth or Radcliffe on Trent. For badminton, dances, plays, bridge drives etc.

I am not sure what provision there is in Ruddington and where to access it!

Swimming pool, outdoor coffee area.

9 Swimming Pool.

Tennis court and 5 aside pitch.

Athletics track, tennis court.

Indoor dry sports – tennis, badminton, squash, swimming facilities. Outdoor splash facilities for children – seasonal soft play for children.

Better children’s play area (Sellor’s playing fields)

Sellor’s playing field to be updated like the other parks have been.

Multi- purpose sports hall.

Could do with water/pool facility but realise this would be too costly.

Facilities for small groups to use for sport, leisure activities.

Mixed use gym would be good.

A swimming pool and leisure centre if Rushcliffe leisure centre closes.

Would like to see a multi-purpose tarmac area for 5 aside football/basketball/netball. Nowhere in village with hoops (for netball/basketball) Tennis courts.

Tennis courts.

Gym/small cinema club

More for young people. A swimming pool come leisure centre.

The play area at Sellor’s playing field should be of the same quality as Vicarage Lane which is excellent.

Tennis court.

We as a family strongly suggest that a tennis court should be re-instated at Elms Park.

More toddler activities, junior school age sports for girls! Better use of land/park between St Marys crescent and Packman drive.

An upgraded village hall, possibly larger, with improved kitchen facilities and car park.

Tennis court.

New village hall present one outdated.

10 I’d like to see a play area in the St Mary’s crescent/Ling Crescent area to avoid crossing busy roads. Also I’d like to see more cycle lanes in the village. I’d use my bike more then.

Muga required. We are only local. Large village. Locally without one. Play area on Wilford Road.

We are all active, two children and two adults. Unless we play football or cricket, which are seasonal, there is nothing “active” in Ruddington. Indoor sports facilities are especially poor, essentially there are no activities. There is no imagination for recreational events. Why not show a film occasionally in one of the buildings that we pay for? Why not hold folk dancing events (all ages can join in). There are many musicians in Ruddington who all travel elsewhere to join together and play music. If there was a decent room we could meet in Ruddington. We need something that meets modern needs – a multi-purpose room that could host meetings, music and dance, indoor sports, and would have modern catering and changing facilities.

Improvements to the children’s play area on Sellor’s playing field (Wilford Road), and fining owners who allow their dogs to foul on the playing field, it’s a health hazard to children.

Some more for the kids.

Tennis courts.

Multi-purpose building with bar/café and function room.

A child play area at the bottom end of the village.

Leisure centre with gym/pool/fitness centre.

Swimming pool.

Tennis court.

Athletics track – tennis court – 5 aside football.

Village hall should be up on Elms Park. Car park not good and the hall is very poor. It should have been re-built years ago.

There could be more ‘whole village’ events – Jubilee, Olympics for example.

Tennis Court.

No swimming pool.

A self –contained building, away from residential housing would be good.

A rugby pitch would be good.

11 Tennis or mini tennis to get youngsters started in the game.

Clean, modern, attractive to all generations, suitable for people with disabilities and changing rooms for sport.

It would be nice to have mediation class as nearest classes are awkward to get to. A wider variety of evening activities – if you don’t like pubs there’s not much else regular clubs which could cater for group activities such as trips to stately homes/London etc. to see shows.

Swimming pool would make it perfect.

A new children’s play area on the grass on St Mary’s Crescent ideally for the younger children.

More things, events, aimed at 20-35 age group. Networks, fairs, festivals that aren’t just aimed at children.

I would like to see an aerobics group (high intensity) and a badminton group for young adults.

Where to begin? There’s nothing here.

More events need to take place in evenings to suit working people.
