Seasonal crop residue requirements, by field and soil type, for erosion control.  Residue will be evenly distributed across the surface of the soil.  Snow management requires a minimum of 6 inches of stubble heights before snowfall, and will remain standing.  As crops are rotated, the following amounts of air dry crop residue are to be maintained on the soil surface throughout the critical wind erosion period from through .

On irrigated crops, the crop residue may be incorporated into the soil before the end of the critical erosion period if other planned measures will control erosion. This may be the green growth of the next crop.

Average pounds of air dry residue produced by crops. The following estimates of average residue amounts produced by crops can be used as a guide for successful implementation of a residue management program.

Crops producing residue: Residue Amt.(Lbs/Ac):

1 of 2 Percent of Residue Maintained by Various Tillage Operations: Tillage during the management period shall be limited to methods that maintain the needed residue on the surface. The following information can be used as a general guide to achieve this.

Implement Types: Percent Maintained

If residue is subject to blowing, it may be incorporated into the surface by light disking or cultivating.
