MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF EASTWOOD HIGH SCHOOL PARENT COUNCIL HELD ON Wednesday 10 th November 2010 AT 8pm IN EASTWOOD HIGH SCHOOL

PRESENT: PARENTS – Jim Kerrigan (Chair), Vivienne Christison, Diane Dakers, Margo McGibbon, Mark Taylor, Hazel Wroughton, Dr Mehmood Mir, Susan Clark, Caroline MacNee, Sanat Mehta, Gavin Kinnell, Ian McIntosh, Connie Hume, Graham Smith

IN ATTENDANCE: Stuart Maxwell (Head Teacher), Shona McWilliam (Clerk), Alan Richmond, Cllr C Gilbert

1. INTRODUCTION

Jim Kerrigan thanked everyone for attending and welcomed them to the meeting.

5. INFORMATION ITEMS

a) Building Update

Nothing to report.

6. DISCUSSION ITEMS

a) AGM Appointment of Chair – no volunteers, J Kerrigan said that he would hold over the appointment of Chair until the next meeting giving members time to think about if they would like to volunteer. J Kerrigan mentioned that there is training on offer from East Renfrewshire and if anyone felt that they were perhaps keen to take on the role of Chair they could go along to the training to get a feel for the role. J Kerrigan again gave an overview of the role of Chair’s position. Ian McIntosh who is the Chair at Crookfur said that he was keen to be involved with the parent council but thought it might not be appropriate at present as he still had a year and half to go at Crookfur. It was agreed that Ian could become Vice Chair. Appointment of Vice Chair – Ian McIntosh Appointment of Treasurer – Diane Dakers (remains the same) Appointment of Secretary – present secretary Linda Sichi was not present at meeting. Jim Kerrigan will contact her before next meeting in January. PTA - all members to stay the same. V Christison gave an overview of the PTA. S Maxwell said that the PTA raise lots of money throughout the year that goes towards various things eg Impact badges, buses to Silverburn for Christmas concert.

b) School Self Evaluation (A Richmond) A Richmond gave a short presentation on what we can expect from a whole school self evaluation & quality improvement. The Aims: To reflect on our practices & evaluate the quality of the service we Deliver. To use effectively the information gathered in our planning process. To collect, analyse and use information about the school. To raise attainment. To develop staff leadership and management.
