Timings:
Registration will open from 09.30 and close at 09.55 Swimmers need to be changed and seated in school groups by 10.00 A safety announcement will be shared at 10.05 Events will start promptly at 10.15
Event Rules: Team Managers must present a register of pupils and adults upon registration. Competitors should remain seated on poolside with their school team until they are called to report for their heat. SAFETY: Please keep children away from water’s edge and no running! Pool shoes or bare feet for competitors, officials and school staff on poolside please. NO spectators on poolside. Spectators are welcome and will be directed to seating set aside for this purpose. Photography: We kindly request that photography be limited to team photos of your own school teams. Anyone wishing to take photographs must sign the photography log upon registration. It is recommended that competitors should bring a towel and plastic drinks bottle (filled with water or dilute squash no fizzy drinks). Entry Rules:
Swimmers must be from school years 4, 5 or 6 Each school can enter one girl / one boy per individual event and one team per relay event. All swimmers can enter a maximum of two individual events and two relay events.
Competition Rules:
Swimmers will be called to the race holding area in advance of their event. Swimmers should remain seated until called! Swimmers MUST stay in their lane when they have finished their race until they are called out of the water by the referee. Starting blocks will not be used, but the swimmer may enter the water by a racing dive or they may start in the water. ALL races will start at the deep end of the water. NB: There will be strictly NO DIVING from the shallow end of the pool in relays. During relay events 2nd, 3rd & 4th leg swimmers must have a hand on the side of the pool ( if doing a water start) or feet must remain on the poolside (if dive start) until the incoming swimmer has touched. Faulty takeovers (flyers) may result in disqualification. Breaststroke swimmers must keep heads to the front and use breaststroke leg kick in accordance with ASA rules. At the finish swimmers must touch with both hands at the same time. Butterfly swimmers arms must clear the water. At the finish swimmers must touch with both hands at the same time. Backcrawl swimmers start in the water. Swimmers may be disqualified if rules are contravened. The referee’s decision is final!
Event Notes:
Mixed Noodle Relay: Swimmers must maintain contact with the noodle at all times whilst swimming their length. Outgoing swimmer must be in the water and maintain contact with the side until the incoming swimmer touches the wall and hands over the noodle.
Water Polo Relay: Front crawl event – water polo ball dribbled/guided between the swimmers arms for one length (N.B: The ball cannot be held). The ball can only be passed when the incoming swimmer has entered the zone marked by the 5 metre flags. Outgoing swimmer must be in the water and maintain contact with the side until the incoming swimmer touches the wall. Therefore, if the incoming swimmer passes the ball, the outgoing swimmer cannot begin their length until the incoming swimmer touches the side.
