Central Dauphin School District Students qualify for Study Buddy. Every 5th through 12th grade student is qualified to receive the Study Buddy program at no cost. TE Connectivity has generously covered all of the costs for the 2011-2012 academic year.

What is Study Buddy? Study Buddy is a free, online, peer-to-peer math homework help. All Study Buddy homework help occur online so the tutor and the student do not have to be in the same location. All work is in an online notebook which resembles a standard paper notebook with more than 1000 pages, however this the online notebook offers so much more such as short instructional videos, a graphing calculator, equation editor, chat box, and most importantly…a live tutor. The tutor and student work simultaneously on math problems. Parents and mentors also have the option of reviewing the student’s online notebook work anytime. All tutoring sessions are recorded and reviewed by NSTEP.

Who are the peer-to-peer tutors? Study Buddy tutors are high school student volunteers that have taken three years of high school math with a B+ or better and are recommended by their teachers to be tutors. Many are members of their schools’ math honor societies, or international baccalaureate programs, and receive credit towards their community service requirements for tutoring. Mu Alpha Theta, the national math honor society endorse Study Buddy to their national members to become tutors. Are your students interested in volunteering?
